I will call him tomorrow and let him know how much I admire him for standing up for what is right. He has the guts to come forward and show FAH's true colors while he is still here. The rest of you cowards will pile on after he is gone. Just like you did to King Johnny.

PE, is there any way you can get Fulmer's number so I can call him and express my feelings about him as a father? He treats his son with a lot of class. Also, get Griff's number from the KNS. He is very objective and should write for The New York Times. Thankds in advance for your help.
"We just stepped on their face with a Hobnail boot and broke their nose. We just crushed their face."
JC, don't accuse me of piling on King Johnny after he left..

because I was piling on while he was still here!
The 1990 season proved to me he would never get TN to national championship status. If you can't make a run with a squad that had 19 kids that ended up playing professional ball then you'll never do it. Hell, King Johnny went 9-2-2 with that bunch!
Who were some of the players on the '90 team? How about Alvin Harper, Carl Pickens, Dale Carter, Chris Mims, Chuck Smith, Todd Kelley, Anthony Morgan, Charles McRae, Bernard Dafney, Tom Myslinski, Antone Davis, JJ McCleskey, Daryl Hardy, and not to mention Chuck Webb (injured in first game).
Others on this board might have waited til Johnny was on his way out the door in '92, but I'd caught on that JM was never gonna get us to the promised land two years before the end.
Also, if others call the Mathews then that is their perogative, but I'm leaving 'em alone. The parents already have gotten enough pub of this silly letter and the kid has endured enough embarrassment from this whole situation.
I don't like having their # and address in here. But it is public information and Mr. Mathews put himself out there in the public eye.
I do not know what he expected to gain with such a thoughtless letter, but he will find out just how hot burned bridges become.
Mayby he did what he felt was right but I hope that he had Joey's bleesing on that piece of mail.
I of course have had to get involved with very important issues in my kids lives, but my wife and I would allways be in agreement on how to proceed and we hoped to be on the same page as our kids.
No matter how you look at this, it comes up sad.
The Mathews' have changed their phone number since Friday (wonder why?). They now have a non-published number. When I find out what it is, I will relay the info. And I will find out.
Of course, their address is still the same.
Rumor has it, that Dean works as a cop in Sevierville, but I have not verified that yet.
If you publish that phone number, you're as low a piece of scum as there is. Anything that family said would be minor compared to you pulling a asshole stunt like that.

Why? Please explain.
Dean Mathews publishes a letter in an open forum insinuating (or in some cases claiming)
1. Casey Clausen is too stupid to get a degree.
2. Casey's dad "bought" him the starting job.
3. Fulmer lied to Joey.
4. Joey is as good as Casey but got a raw deal.
And to top it off, in the middle of recruiting season, he urges all recruits NOT to go to UT-even though his worthless-as-a-QB-son got a free education while contributing very little to the UT football team.
Dean Mathews is a delusional, paranoid redneck. Why shouldn't he have to reap what he sews?
If you want to publish his number, just make sure to throw your name and number on here as well. Quit acting like a damn hillbilly redneck. Were you the one who sent dog shit to ESPN after the heisman mess? If you want to debunk what the Matthews stated, then use the same, or similar, media outlet, but trying to harass someone is pathetic. Grow up.
DEAN MATHEWS TOOK UP FOR HIS SON IN WHICH I ADMIRE, HE ALSO MADE SOME VALID POINTS. JOEY SHOULD HAVE PLAYED ALOT MORE THAN HE DID AND MY GOSH YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT HE SHOULDN'T HAVE PLAYED IN THE CITRUS BOWL, FULMER IS A GREAT COACH BUT THAT WAS PLAIN LOW RENT SCUMBAG BULLSHIT. YOU ARE ALSO IN THE SAME CATEGORY FOR PRINTING A MANS PERSONAL ADRESS AND PHONE NUMBER ON THE INTERNET, I HOPE HE BEATS YOU SORRY, PATHETIC, MONKEYSHIT ASS. THE ENFORCER!!!!!!!!!
The last time I checked, this little dispute was between Mr. Matthews and Coach Fulmer. It is no one else's business. By writing that letter to the paper, Mr. Matthews is trying to make it other people's business. But that is the wrong way to handle it. If he were man enough, he would talk to Coach Fulmer face to face or even Doug Dickey. If he thinks there is real funny business going on, he should write a letter to the NCAA. Otherwise, he was wrong for airing his dirty laundry in public. Just like it's wrong to post on this or any other forum his phone number, or for "Joe Fan" to say "I'm going to call him or write a letter to him". It's not your fight.
This whole story is ridiculous. I've seen this type of behavior from high school parents. He should realize that his son wasn't good enough to be the starting QB at UT. And for people like JC to get on Dewey's show and say that Fulmer does certain players dirty is garbage. The last time I checked, Brandon Stewart didn't set the world on fire at Texas A&M. And A.J. Suggs was 1-3 as the starting QB. All of you Ole Miss, UGA, and Bama fans need to worry about your own school. And the average fan needs to worry about their own business. It's fine to talk about it, but it's not your place to make a call or get involved in any way.

My sources are telling me that the Sevierville Police Dept. has been inundated with phone calls asking why they could hire such as "baffoon" (to use JC's incorrect spelling) as Dean Mathews. They are not pleased with the negative image he given their dept.
I think even dumbass Dean underestimated the power of the written word.
Brockytop your list of all stars is not exactly a group I would have wanted to take on Alabama with that year. Not one of those players ever played for a Championship of any kind at the pro level and with the exception of Pickens none were even impact players on the teams they were on. Big names in Tn media but not not big time players. I am still unconvinced that the current coaching staff is any better than what we had. Go back and watch the tackling and secondary coverage under Majors verus the past two seasons and tell me what you really think.
