but I need some suggestions on the best way to handle this.
The only problem I foresee with alot of folks sending e-mail is due to alot of these same folks already sending e-mail the the teamsportsradio@yahoo.com address. Robert Gass told me they had received over 150 e-mails as of this past Thursday afternoon.
If anything, I'd like to see someone take the time to write a well written "letter to the editor" to the Senseless expressing dissatisfaction with South Central Communications decision to drop the sports radio format in general and more specifically Basilio & the Next Level. JMO.
I gave it my best shot. Here is the letter I sent today:
Last Tuesday was a dark day in Knoxville sports radio as the only 24 hour sports radio station was replaced with a new all music format. 'The Team' 95.7 was a fast growing station with inventive, fresh local shows about everything from UT football to hocky and cars and mixed in with 24 hour programming from Fox Sports Radio. 95.7 was represented by the tireless and opinionated Tony Basilio who's own show 'The Next Level' provided a great alternative to other shows in this market. I find it very hard to believe that a sports crazy town like Knoxville cannot support this format. 'The Team', owned by South Central Communications, has made a big mistake by dropping this format. Does Knoxville actually need another outlet for pop music? Are there no advertisers whom care about getting the business of the multitudes of local sports fans? If you are a Tony Basilio fan, or even more importantly, if you feel Knoxville needs more sports on the radio than the 4 hours a day that another station provides, please let South Central Communications know how you feel. And please, someone give this format and Tony Basilio another shot
