Had a brain storm today that turned out to be more of a gas attack.
Was driving into work and through the new Alcoa Hgwy interchange at I-40 and had seen three different colors on the overpass supports.
weeel Hell, why can't they be painted Big Orange, especially around the UT area and cap off the new interstate with a flourish, right?
Not so fast....
I called the DOT and after going through 3 people ended up with Fred Corum. Now I will say this, during buisness hours, these folks will talk to ya, give you the straight poop, and call you back when you leave a message. In good time too.
So I threw down my brainstorm to him and he agreed it was an outstanding idea that THEY had tried to do before of their own accord. But it seems they did a couple of bridges and SOMEONE had a problem with it.
Could have been the then commish who was a Vandy Grad? So let them paint the Nashville bridge supports black and gold I said. But of course there were some other people that lived here that were not UT fans and THEY didn't like it. So we talked some more and he agreed to make a few calls and see what bringing the idea up again would bring to the table.
But as BT pointed out in his statue of 9-11 thread, a few people get their nose out of joint about something, so they hold a community, a school, a state or a nation to some politicly incorrect idea that their rights are violated. Well its time to get a handle on this crap and let the moral majority rule. This IS Big Orange Country and while your here, do as the Volunteers do or bare with us. If ya don't like it, hit the bricks.
So I hope maybe I can generate a little intrest in this and see what happens. Its such a simple idea and one I believe leaves an explanation point on what has been a long construction project. But one that will be a feather in the cap of the DOT and why not clad the underside of that feather.....BIG ORANGE.
