Your dream, SEC, old timey BB team:January 17 2002 at 8:02 PM | OrangeSkyVolFan (Login OrangeSkyVolFan) from IP address 216.78.29.101 |
| Here is mine (These are hustling players who understand & actually play basketball):
C Erwin Dudley('bama) I think averaged a double double last year. Smooth for a big man & tough.
G Jon Higgins(UT)--a border collie who is holding his coach & his team together. Can guard the best SEC scoring guards and is smart no matter how dumb his teammates make him look.
G Jamel Bradley(USC)--The guy has 2 hearing aids & makes plays. Maybe not being able to hear helps!
F Ronald Dupree(LSU)--The guy is a machine like Will Overstreet & will dunk on you, no matter your size. I think has a 3.5 in Engineering.
F Matt Bonner(FL)--A red-haired Dave DeBushere of the pre Allan Houston Knicks. Is stout & will knock you around with either his shoulder, a 3 pointer, or a beautiful pass. Best player on that team.
6-7 or who would you trust your job to:
Gerald Fitch(KY)--pay to watch
Brett Nelson(FL)--must be related to Jerry West, both from West Virginia |

I am counting on you, volhunter, BrockyTop and Buzz to find us some, because I am like Vincent on that work--why bother?
I do think Buzz will recruit like Coach Fulmer--many similarities there & that is no shot. Young, likes people, hard worker, keeps up his contacts, has seen national-championship & professional-level talent up close, & I think will get along well with the mamas! As Buzz has said & it could be said about Coach Fulmer, "This is his dream job!"
I do hope that the players he brings in here will not be over-hyped by the UT media & fans as we have done out of desperation in the past 20 years!!!! |

Great list OSVF. You can’t win big with five of them on the court but you can’t win PERIOD without one or two. Here are some blasts from the past that fit the same mold:
TENNESSEE:
Billy Hahn-Stuck the opponents best guard on D and distributed the rock
Steve Ray-Wouldn’t make a ripple at a high school all-star extravaganza but HE WAS A BASKETBALL PLAYER
Charles Cleveland (Alabama) After a game in Stokely in 1974 I heard Haywood Harris for months in my sleep “Charles Cleveland” “Charles Cleveland” “Charles Cleveland”
Wiley Peck (Mississippi State) The most intimidating rebounder I can ever remember in the SEC. He would grab it one handed, and slap it so hard with the other it would be heard over a raucous Stokely crowd. I think he also knocked himself out with a dunk if I remember correctly
Ethan Martin (LSU) Our Color Commentator will remember him. Bert would try a crossover and Ethan would not only steal the ball he would change jerseys with him before Bertlekamp reacted.
Gosh I love those type guys. Who else fits?
