Phil, JC, Beano, Bryan, Phake Phil, Rude Dog, Chad, Knox Sooner, JB, Forrest, Big O, Sleepy, Curtis AKA VollyWood(LOL)Brockytop,Lambert, myself, TBA, and many others made the get together.Dewey had a full house along with other friends and listeners for the event.

DW and company put on a great show! 1/2 price finger food. BS galore. War stories. Fun and games!!
DW in all of his glory. Great promotion, and enjoyed by all.

Sure Deano

January 18 2002, 12:04 AM

Sorry your under the weather.

It was outstanding. There were approximently 50 to 60 callers and listeners gathered in the big room to the left hand side. Basicly filled up.

Let me run through some names, and do not hold it against me who I may forget, but refresh this ol mans memory....

I will start with Beano just because....Phil, Bryan, Brockytop, Plumbervol, PhakePhil, JB, Chuck, Forrest, Blake (the Fl fan...great guy), Bob (occcasional caller, older man..sharp)JC, KnoxSooner,Lambert, Curtis(Clevegewood), Todd (producer), Kay (Swampy's Gal, Wayne (Al. fan, another great guy) Chad New caller I believe)
and a host of listeners and names my brain is not remembering, Do NoT hold it against me.
We need to mix it up a little more with the listeners, it was sorts like an eighth grade dance, but people hang with who they know, ya know? But got to meet some of the other listeners but wish I had taken the time to hit all the tables. I will next time for sure.

The theme? excitement toward the future and The Swamp Rat and TB together again. (back to back anyway)
Deweys plans for that long awaited 3rd hour, and Dewey will do an hour of NASCAR from 2 to 3 on Fridays.

DW was once again the cordial host and made his rounds table to table all the evening. He does it everytime and that says a lot to me. He leaves no one out and enjoys all. Dewey was in his element....and so were we. DW had a drawing for tickets to the game Saturday, Gift Cirtifiacates to Tony Ramas (TBA Nails a Twelve Dollar Bill) Passes to court south and Scotts Gym on Chapman hgwy. and some other stuff. JB's son did the drawing and you talk about a sports knowledgable kid!! About 8,9 years old mayby and could name the mascot for any team you threw at him. Like father like son....Look out sports talk radio of the future...

I will close on this.... the enjoyment of good people having a great time, the pains of fans from other programs and the hopes and dreams of some from other programs. The pains and the glories of all that is UT. A mystical bomb dropped on the TBA and whoops.....Do Over!!! Shoot!!! We will have to use Stokely for a while till the new theater is built!!! I will not divulge the author of that idea but it was.....next level. TBA threatened to and then was challenged to hit the Syracuse game once again in full Vol Bandit war point. Seems to work with the theme of the student section!!! The Tennessee Bandits!! Could that have come from my mission to FL??? I could only hope.
I will do my part to break the jinx.....

I know more can be added but that is my take. And That members, was one hell of a grand get-together.

Thanks Dewey, and the future is indeed....wide open.
TBA

Believe it or not I got your name confused with Lamberts somehow.
I'm going to have to take my day-timer to these things!

Sounds like the wake for afternoon sports-talk...

January 18 2002, 8:25 AM

radio is completely over. Looks like the intellectual center of sports-talk in Knoxville attended. Glad to hear it was a good time.

It appears that PV & TBA may push the KNS's Barbara Ask 'Em Hogwash (People & Parties) out the door. Now, if they could only supply us with info on David Keith's new baby as the KNS has today! Good grief!

The older, sharp Bob guy mentioned above:

I wonder if it was Coach Bob Frye, long-time coach of the Fulton Falcons in the '60's & 70's. Bob Frye called Dewey's show yesterday as he was going off the air & Dewey knew him & told him to call back, but did not identify him as Coach Bob Frye of the Fulton Falcons. He did talk about missed free throws. He was a very-respected coach of Ron Widby, Billy Justus & others at Fulton, I think. Fulton & A-E used to have some real battles in the district & region tournaments at Stokely Athletic Center. Just curious & I wanted to give members a heads up about an important Knoxville basketball figure.

Sounded like a great time

January 18 2002, 1:00 PM

I wished I had been there. I hope they have one of these get-togethers on a night other than Thursdays (I coach BB that night).

I had to laugh at the other posts asking if Bama Fever was there. Do you think he'd have the guts to show up?

I hope they get someone who actually knows about Nascar when Dewey expands the show. Dewey knows some, but not much. That guy that calls in regaularly doesn't know Jack. Most of his info comes from the Internet. When Dewey asks him an on-the-spot question, he stumbles around and makes something up. I'll have to check it out.
