Caldwell seems to be dropping the ball in the Riggs recruitment. Just last week GRJr said his UT visit would be the "start of his Tennessee career" now he's in Lincoln, NE checking out the Huskers. Caldwell doesn't recruit & he sure as hell doesn't coach.
Has Pat Washington signed 5 players since he's been at UT? I doubt it. We all know that developing WRs is not his forte. It is inexcuseable for Fulmer to keep him on the staff.
I think McCorvey is one of the best position coaches on the staff but his recruiting practices, in our state's most talent rich city, are deplorable. A week ago Willie Henderson committed, stating he "knew this would be where I play since my 10th grade year", now he's visiting Miss. State.
We need to keep McCorvey but reassign someone to the Memphis area. Washington & Caldwell HAVE GOT TO GO, PERIOD!

Caldwell as the Rebs defensive coordinator (I know JC would have been pleased!).
I do think Caldwell in a pretty decent coach, but his recruiting is lackluster at best.
As for Washington, he must really have some dirt of coach Fulmer. How else can his continued employment at TN be explained? Our WR's have been fundamentally unsound under Washington's coaching and his recruiting record is deplorable. Yes, PW's landed some nice players from time to time but he's missed out on a TON of quality players in his recruiting area--many thought to be "locks" at one time or the other for the Vols.
As for McCorvey, he's just an "old" coach that doesn't care about the hustle of the recruiting trail. He is a very good coach and a good representative for the school, buy the bottom line is his heart simply isn't into recruiting anymore. I have friends that are close to McCorvey and they'd tell you the same thing.
We have a useless Defensive Coordinator, a Doless Wide Receivers Coach, and a totally incompetent Secondary Coach. That means the janitor will be added to the staff as a special teams Coach. We have lost 5 of our last 17 SEC games- Thats a 68% winning percentage-nothing to brag about. Fulmer gets the big Bucks he needs to make the tough decisions and cut these freeloaders loose.
Hey Alydar, Seeing as you are so brilliant, why don't we let you and your buddies coach the team? I mean, you believe yourself such an expert I can't imagine why you haven't been contacted about a head coaching job. If you aren't bonafide head coaching material that would make your opinions like your ass; you have two of them (one on each end).
Your argument overwhelms me with its logic. I guess only the Coaches of Nebraska, Olklahoma, Miami etc. know enough about football to critique the Big Orange. Lets see where do you get the right to critique me. Whats your credentials? If you like the coaching Staff as it is why don't just back it up with some facts instead of attacking the messenger. Are my facts wrong? I think we can do better and with a couple of good Assistant Coaches we would be SEC champions and maybe National champions right now. Do you really think Chavis has ever been even considered for another job? With all the talent in the world our Secondary couldn't cover Coach Fulmer.
Ahhh, you are so easy to see you might as well be wearing orange. Let me see if I can say this simply: You made several harsh attacks on Fulmer and his staff that would easily be considered the extreme of the spectrum. When you are criticized for said radical argument you say that you are being told you cannot be anywhere in that spectrum when in actuality you are being told that you are too far to the extreme. In plain english; you are not being told you can't be critical, you are being told you are too critical. You made several remarks which show that you have no faith in Fulmer or most of his staff. So, why not step up and do it yourself if you are going to be this critical?
Since the only way to satisfy you is to follow your advice, why should UT pay Fulmer when you will do it for him?
Adamvol-Hows this? you make me head coach of the Vols-If I don't win 7 Games you pay me nothing-0-I'll work for free. If I win 8 games pay me 500,000. If I win the Sec Championship pay me 750,000 total. If I win the national championship pay me 1 MIL total. UT will still save 500,00 to 1.5 million no matter what. I guarantee you one thing - My Assistants-who I will pay out of my pocket-won't be the Clowns that are there now. I don't recall attacking Fulmer but I have pointed out a few of his shortcomings in the past. I give him his due-he is without question the best recruiter in College football today. Thats why I think you could take this team and win 6 games. I'd make a good Shephard for the Sheep.

Evil Genius? What does that make Chavis? The Virtuous Dumbass? You my friend are a good hearted, well meaning loyal Volfan-right or wrong-weak or strong- Love 'em or Leave 'em. So play it loud and play it proud my vol friend and when the Janitor is named special teams Coach for 100G a year we can tell our Vol friends that the kicking game is no longer a problem. You can tell a Vol Fan but you can't tell him much.
