I hate to even ask the question but I'm starting to hear it from a few folks.
I'd love to see him stay one more year but I think there are two things against TN in whether or not MH will return for his Sr season:
1) His lack of focus in the classroom. I think Marcus likes basketball more than schoolwork.
2) If he hadn't started showing off his game already, Slay's injury gives MH a real chance to showcase his abilities the remainder of the season. He definitely is TN's "go-to" guy.
I'd sure like to see him stick around to play with Slay, Asumnu, Watson, Winchester (if eligible), Higgins, & Co next yr.
If Kwame Brown is a lottery pick as a HS senior what do you think the NBA will think about someone as athletic as MH? He will go in the top 10 in this years draft if he continues to play as well as he has! I would stop recruiting these high profile players and sign 100-200(ranked) type ball players. They stick around for 4 years and help develope your program. Duke will be subpar next year without JW.
OSVS, Cole was given a chnce by Harrick. He is an orphan that has been given chance after chance by various coaches. This is UGA's first incident invoving BB players during Harrick's tenure. I know you envy UGA's BB program and the direction it is headed. They will continue to get better as long as Harrick is in control. By the way, why did Buzz kick two players off the team this year? I'm sure it wasn't for drugs. LMAO!
Smoking a little doob, or a GANG RAPE? Yeah, Harrick has your program on the right track.
Why did they have to rape that co-ed? I thought most UGA athletes paid for ass?

Well, Ole Piss basketball is stinky and rotten; Championships and rings are long forgotten; We kicked that ass, kicked that ass, kicked that ass, in BuzzyLand; Well, I'm glad I'm not in Oxfraud; Hooray! Hooray! Cause Rebels fans are Redneck flagwavers, who live and die without rings; Hooray! Hooray! I'm glad I'm uuuuuuuuuuup in Knoxville!
I am sorry. When you start in on your Harrick spin, it reminds me of Oliver Douglas on Green Acres. Remember all his orations on the land & his love of farming--I think "America the Beautiful" was even played. Maybe PV can hook you up some music for your Harrick posts.
Harrick is a good coach & I will stand by my predictions that will come true before he cashes in his expense receipts.

Maybe he can "pay the money back" like Fulmer and Co. LMAO. UT lets its players hang out with Agents and when they get caught they want to pay the money back. Go watch your fake basketball, thats as close as you'll come to the NCAA this year.
after he "got a ride"? Maybe she wasn't satisfied? Your program is a damn joke, you DON'T BELONG ON THE SAME PLANET AS THE VOLNATION!

Haislip was a borderline top 150 coming out of HS. I see your point about not recruiting the cream de le crem. Kwame Brown & Donnell Harvey have combined to give Billy Donovan 1 season. I think Harrick is taking the right approach at UGA and hopefully Buzz is doing the same.

MP, its a shame that UT will get only one year of quality play out of MH. What in the hell was the DRUNK thinking. MH reminds me of Larry Nance. I would say the NBA will come calling very soon!
I'm no great talent evaluator, but maybe there was a reason he wasn't a top 50 recruit. I remember seeing a skinny, gangly, awkward guy that every now and then was amazingly athletic but was most of the time timid and outmanned underneath.
I don't know the stats, but I'd guess his build has improved dramatically over the last couple of years, both with pounds and strength.
I'm glad Jed's gone too, but MH was not one of his faults.
Don't you think that if Harrick's ticks got in last year at 15-16, the VOLS should go to the Big Show--especially when you say Harrick had so little talent last year & the VOLS have so much this year?
I am surprised that like Mr. Douglas on Green Acres, you don't call for more "sunshine, fresh air" at Athens. Guess not.

Yep...Harrick has got you on the right track allright!
You were a welfare case at best, and proved that by getting snackcaked in the 1st round!

VH, 16-15 swept UT's ass last year. LMAO! UT has a great record against UGA this decade in sports. I think UT beat UGA in baseball once last year. LMAO! By the way, sorry to hear about Slay!

Haslip and the rest of the bumbling vols, you wonderful talent evaluators and nba scouts don't seem to be talking about Haslip being a lottery pick. Three games dont' make a pro propsect. Haslip is tremendously gifted athletically, but he is not a consistently great or even good BB player yet. How many dunks has he missed in the last four games. His form on this jump shot needs work. he has the potential but is not there yet.
we all know every Dookie diaper dandy is a lottery pick because Dookie Vee & Coach Kay tell us so. Why don't you allow us some enthusiasm? We certainly had to listen about Curly MaGetty before he ever started or even set foot on the court. How is he doing? I am sure like all Dookie's non-grads: just fabulous.
wasn't Tony Harris only supposed to be at UT one year before turning pro, wasn't VY, supposed to leave after is Soph and Junior year. All that talk about the NBA at least contributed tothe ruination of VY and TH. They now will be playing together in Soiux City or Cairo. My point is simply that Haslip is not ready. To suggest otherwise is delusional and not in the kid's best interest. That is exactly what coach K said to Magette and Avery. Did they listen? No. Look at the result, Maggette is still being given a chance because he is still young (21), Avery is the last man on the roster for the T-Wolves and may be out of the league next year. A junior in college is not drafted on potential, he is drafted on his skills, polish, and refinement. Haslip needs more time to develop the same. Realism serves everyone better than unblinded enthusiasm.
I agree with your thoughts about our inflation of the abilities of VY & TH. I raised the question about Marcus being the best "basketball" player in the last 20 years at UT, because I cannot think of a better one.
I can say that as I enjoy watching him play. However, I am not one to sit around like the UT media or some of the UTJethros and say Marcus is great, therefore National Championship in BB. One would be a fool to say a National Championship is not about talent, coaching, & unbridled & blinded fan enthusisam!!
At this point, in my opinion, unbridled, blind enthusiam by our UT basketball fans needs to lift all the boats. We have far too many REALISTS who sit around with old ideas thinking that doing the old & finding all the faults will bring us a National Championship in basketball. Beano, says UT basketball fans have hemorohoids(sp), but I say they are too comfortable with the expectations or status quo--including TALL guy & the lowliest UTJethro!!
I hate to sound like a guy on the campaign trail but I think you’re all correct. Haislip definitely would benefit from an additional year’s seasoning. I think most contributors to the thread would agree. On the other hand his level of athleticism is so evident that at this point I doubt NBA scouts (and I know agents wouldn’t) would discourage Marcus coming out.
Here’s what I see happening. With all due respect to Brocky I think Slay’s absence will detract from Marcus’ performance rather than enhance it due to the extra attention he will receive from opposing defenses and our inconsistent ability to protect him with perimeter shooting. My guess is that he will test his draft status at years end, be dissatisfied with his projected draft position, and return for next season. That’s assuming of course he’s academically eligible and not totally sick of school.
like or not, Houston is the the best basketball player from UT in the last twenty years. Good athlete, good skills, lots of savvy, but, unfortunately, not a lot of heart.
Beano,
Haslip is a great athlete who lacks refinement. He is not a high-schooler. The scouts won't be encouraging him to come out. It just makes the risk of drafting, even in the second round, too risky and controversial.
the unbridled enthusiasm is for the "program" not any one player. The program is always greater than any one player. Look what happened to the team when Payton become more important than the team.
I believe Maggette dropped 28 on the Lakers a couple days ago, while being guarded by Kobe Bryant. The kid obviously is going to make a couple dollars in the pros. As for Avery, I've read that he acknowledged K's advice but chose to leave to support his family and quite frankly who can blame the kid, he did go in the 1st round and has made plenty of $$$$. K apparently didn't realize that some kids actually would like to help their parents out, what a novel concept.
As for Haislip, I tend to agree with Beano. He's not ready, but all of that potential will be drooled on by NBA scouts, as now you draft on potential and not current ability. Still, I think he'll eventually come back.
