Bama Sheep & their backhanded slaps at Tony B

The Bama Sheep who call Dewey's show are obsessed with Basilio because he doesn't carry water for the corrupt Tide. Warren will not disagree with any of these Sheep (who continue to insist that Bama is the victim of a conspiracy). Everybody cheats they say yet they act like UT & UF are to blame for Bama boosters who pay these kids to be whores.

Every day you'll hear forrest or bama failure make a snide remark on the DW show. They seem to be in the hunt for a radio free Alabama. Hear no evil, ewe SHEEP.

Big Al is the worse

January 22 2002, 1:34 PM

he has a snide remark everyday. He called out TBA yesterday, and he's called out Tony many times.

The Bama fans aren't the only ones...does anyone remember Big Blue's 10 minute diatribe last week about Tony? He compared Tony to Gerri Dinardo, saying he was nothing but a "hairy backed Italian". They all say that Tony is a backstabber. Who has Tony backstabbed? 63? Enforcer? LMAO!

These guys are idiots!

BTW...Dewey needs to wake up, he's asleep at the switch to much. Big Al's comment today about "beating cocks" was borderline porno. Dewey needs to install a 7-second delay, and clean the trash up!

Basilio was on Finebaum's show back in the fall and he stirred the do-do by taking some shots at the Tide. Some of the Finebaum regulars went postal and called Basillo every name in the book. Of course, I became an instant Basilio fan that day. I can recognize entertainment and I love it when the fur, errr, wool starts to fly.

vh & mp have described the callers accurately. Today was particularly sorry radio on Dewey's show with the 'bama nation. Everyday & I mean everyday they call in with some vague points about UT & its lack of "tradition" & championships. Snide is a good word because, like bin 99JC, the Oxnard Rubble reject, they beat around the bush laying out their premises for 2 minutes before they make their statements about how corrupt UT is and how Roy Kramer controls all. Never do they rip Steve Spurrier for his hand in the troubles on 'bama's grassy knoll. Today was funny because they called Dewey ready for their canned UT gripes, but it was actually mostly Auburn & KY callers who were ripping your Tide today.

DumbBamaForest is also humorless, because he always brings up Tampa Bay and tells us what they need to do. No one cares!!!! Why he just does not come out of the closet & say he loves his Bucs because the late, big, big Bama man Hugh Culvahouse owned the Bucs & managed them so poorly for so many years, we will never know. DumbBamaForest might then have to discuss the personal affairs of the late Mr. Culvahouse--seems like I read that he used to scuffle with his wife, at least financially. We all await the day when DumbBamaForest blames Doug Dickey & Roy Kramer for the plight of the Bucs!

FYI

I Was listening Monday on my office radio and only heard part of BigAl's call and my reception there is awfull. Honestly I could not tell if he said something to me or about the TBA itself.
What is the skinny on what he said??
I may need to box those ears.....

Boys, I hate to say this...

January 22 2002, 10:36 PM

But between those freakin' Bama callers and John the truckdriver (and a few others), Dewey's show is getting hard to listen to for me. I like Dewey, and I'm trying to hang in there, but I'd trade all those bozo callers for one Small Mike.

Warrior, I listened to Basilio on Finebaum last summer &, as you said, anyone who couldn't tell that Tony B was just ruffling the wool for entertainment purposes, is truly dumber than dirt.

Regarding Dewey's show
Warren has got to step the format up. In my opinion these are some things he could do to improve the flow of his spot
1) Form an opinion & back it up- with concise, to the point SPECIFIC reasoning not generalizations
2) Get callers on & off more quickly- institute a cut off time & stick to it. This would help with the forrests and big als of the world, who talk for 5 minutes about Tampa Bay's next great head coach who can lead the Buccaneers towards another 5-10 seasons of mediocrity & underachievement, before they blame HH for Bama buying players in Memphis.
3) Stop being so generous with air time- Callers who wish to call the show to talk about cooking, groceries, the weather etc should have the respect to do so off the air
4) I personally think Dewey needs to cut bama failure off when he's taking pot shots at the show. BF is as thin skinned as they come but that doesn't mean Dewey owes him a free lunch.
5) I would love to hear another Small Mike call- that won't happen. SM said he was leaving the show for good & he's stuck to his guns.

TBA

no, he called you out. He said that you can't tell him or the Bama Nation what show to call, and for you to make him a sandwich. He referenced your job at FC, and said that the reason you worked in the deli is because you like salomi, or something ( a homo reference).

And of course Dewey hates to cut people off, and since they have no delay, all of his trash talking got out there.

Big Al is a punk, and why Dewey let's him on the air is beyond me.

amen about #3!

When I hear "DD" call in and start talking about his greasy soul food, I pretty much tune it out. Why does Dewey let him ramble? It's funny to hear DD, because Dewey will try to cut him off, but DD won't stop until he gives us the whole menu, including the ice tea! His theory on putting ice cubes in a tea glass that he gave us on Monday was especially inspiring. "A fella don't know what he's doin' if he puts more than 2 cubes in his glass Dewey...it'll all melt, and..." WHO THE HELL CARES? CUT THIS INBREED OFF DEWEY!

The Bucs talk, Big Blue talk, Nascar talk from that one dude, is all tolerable, because at least it's sports. But when DD calls in and gives us his menu, ala Max Howell, or when Bear calls in to tell us about his doctor appointment, or when Cornhusker calls in with his "WWWHHHHAAAAASUUUP!", I want to puke.

I'd like for these nimrods to call in with their nonsense to my boy JT the brick. He'd carve their asses up like a Thanksgiving turkey! He'd destroy them!

Do You Mean to Tell Me

January 23 2002, 8:23 AM

That he just sat their and listened to that crap?
I managed to hear DW say something about enjoying all the callers. Was that it?
I know DW is non combative, but I have supported him from day one.
At least I know where I stand.

DW means no harm

January 23 2002, 8:34 AM

to you TBA, and means no harm to noone. Dewey is simply NOT going to cut anyone off! I know he and Tony are tight, and he lets these guys put in countless zingers at Tony!

Dewey's problem is that he's just too nice. He wants to be a friend to everyone. He simply can't continue it. His show will erode into trash talking between callers (it's almost that way now).

Dewey needs to install a delay TODAY, and when a caller starts getting personal, or tries to slide in an off colored joke, Dewey needs to cut him off. It may piss a few people off, like a Big Al, or a PhakePhil, but that's too bad. Dewey's show is almost unbearable now...I can't imagine how bad his show will suck this summer when there are no sports at all to talk about. Hour 1 will be the "let's bash Fulmer hour" starring the Bama fans....Hour 2 will be the "let's bash Basilio hour" starring the people that Tony CUTS OFF and that are pissed at him, and Hour 3...well who cares about that, no way I can listen to that drivel for THREE HOURS. I'll switch it to 104.5 first!

DEWEY IS TOO NICE, AND IT'S KILLING THE SHOW!

Dewey's nice & ...

January 23 2002, 9:00 AM

he needs to instill some of the discipline that he is always suggesting for the basketball team.

You guys have described it accurately in my opinion--the problems & the remedies.

Dewey needs to take his program to the "next level".

I miss Basilio & Bruno--those two can handle the hot seat & entertain at the same time.

Dewey is kinda like VY

January 23 2002, 9:12 AM

he's content to pass the ball, and throw up a long 3. He won't take it to the rim!

The 850 gig has a long way to go IMO. I'm convinced that this market will support a good show, but I'm not sure there is a personality in this market that can do it. Tony is entertaining, but often times doesn't do his homework, and will not SHUT UP the Jethros. 990 USED to be informative but boring. Now, they are just boring. Dewey tries, but he doesn't do his homework...can't pronounce half of the player's names (who is Grindsted?), and is relegated to saying "Good call", "I agree", or "I know what you're saying brother!". Does he ever take a stand? BTW...did anyone catch the time when Dewey asked the caller if the crowd stormed the floor after the Syracuse game? The game was on ESPN primetime, did Dewey not even watch? How Embarassing.

Many didn't like Mike Keith, for mostly jealous reasons, but when he, Cody Allison, and Hubbs did their shows, it was KICK ASS. They would stay all night long at the station calling recruits at this time of year, for example. Neither one is boring, both are informative, and they keep the Jethros at an arm's distance. They built 990 into the juggernaut that it is, and Giggles and crew are slowly destroying that.

Dewey Warren's Vocabulary

January 23 2002, 11:52 AM

1. That's a good point (caller's name)

2. That's just my opinion.

3. There you go!

4. Good call (caller's name).

He will repeat the same phrases at least 15 times every show.
