HOW MANY OF YOU THINK YOUR FAVORITE UNIVERSITYJanuary 25 2002 at 7:53 AM | ORANGEWASHED (Login ORANGEWASHED) from IP address 152.163.207.182 |
| doesn't have their football and basketball players receiving Pell Grant money just like the Great Stallworth is. Tennessee's favorite sports channel ESPN will tell you that ALL major colleges and university have their players doing the same thing. Not just in these two sports, but in all sports where a scholorship is given.
On the other hand I agree, when the Great Stallworth accepted the money and benefits, he should be gone. If he had not of accepted these, I would say, just like college basketball players, he should be allowed to return. But he cut his own throat on this one.
By the way, Beano, those three guys going in after one another on the same girl. That is kind of gross, wouldn't you think. Might have been one of thems close relative, that is kind of the way it goes in Georgia isn't it.
Thanx all. |

Of course, SnooppHatePupp will be the first to get on here and declare that Athens never takes Pell Grant money(it is a grant) or any other kind of federal money. Of course Snoopp thinks that if anyone else takes federal money, it is "welfare".
My sources have confirmed that Richt & Harrick have come up with another scheme to model the Athens program on Nebraska's famous walk-on program. It is a modified program, but in addition to the FB & BB scholarship limits, Richt & Harrick are going to move potential recruits to prep schools in Georgia. They will establish residency for them & they will then get a "full ride" at Athens paid for by the lottery. Brilliant. This way Athens can have more and better players than everyone else. Snoopp will tell you a lottery is not a tax & the "full ride" is not welfare.

That is brilliant! What a way to get players in the system for free. I could care less about Snoop's spin and the welfare/tax angle. Here in TN if we brought great students from out of state and placed them in our prep schools they probably would bottom out on ACT and SAT scores if they had to re-test after a year in our sorry educational system.
I have no problem with any of those kids getting Pell Money. That is what it is for. I guess it is better for them to NOT have money in their pockets like other students on campus. I believe if you polled most Americans they would favor locking and shackleing these student athletes in a dorm room when they are not on the field preforming. Looook away Loook away etc. | |
