...but the ole brain is always working (as long as the Good Lord allows).
Don't want to compete with SPS II - I wish it all the best, and continued growth, and greatness. There is only one Sports Parlor South, whatever the address. And I know that I could just start a brand new board from scratch...that would probably be easier than remodeling this one. But lineage has something to do with it that is important.
Not talking "Son of SPS", nor rival, but rather a suitable companion board...compatible but different. It would not draw any members away from SPS II because it would not try to duplicate that unique board...only compliment it.
Final plans may take some time, so if TBA and PV want to leave this site up read-only for a few weeks, that's fine, but in the meantime I would like the keys back (it's true I shared the keys with one person, but I didn't OK a change of locks. I only learned of it to my surprise after they were changed). But that's OK now. We all start each day anew. TBA and PV make a great team, and will continue to make SPS the best board in East Tennessee, if not the southeast.
I am accepting of seeing SPS move on (and like any parent, I hope only the best for it.) But at the same time, I want the opportunity to keep my old board, modify it, and see what might be done with it to add interest and value for all SPS members (and probably others). A change of name, of course, is first off.
To TBA and PV, you can call me "Founder", "#1 Member", etc, that's fine and I appreciate it. Let's see whether a different kind of board, thoroughly compatible with SPS as a companion, couldn't help SPS even more (linked, of course).
Your acting like a 3yr old. You chose to go to Michigan. You chose to not post on this board but once every six months. You act like you been posting every day.Nobody hears from you and you expect TBA and PV to kiss your ass.You had your chance.Yes I am sure it hurts but your backhanded attempts to make them feel guilty about it is bullshit. If it wasn`t for them this board would have died not to long after you left.So c`mon man grow up!!By the way happy 50th. and lighten up.GillVol
2 competing sports talk shows next week, could we have 2 competing SPS boards also? This could get interesting.
Question is, which SPS board is the Snooze? Is TBA the "Jimmy Hyams" of SPS? Or is PV the "John Wilkerson"? Is VH the "Dave Clary"?
I don't blame CD at all, SPS is HIS baby. We are here because of him.

AIM here is the problem.

Network54 wants everyone to get off the free board(wich we are on now) and buy premium service. We are getting to many views to go bottom use. We are a middle sized board. Thus instead of $6 dollars a month charge we fall into the category of $18 dollars a month. AIMOO has a set number of views charge. If we hit the middle ground of hits such as last year we will pay only $30 for use until July. Then An additional $90 dollars for our buzy time of football-January. This equals $120 vs $216 for the same ammount of time for our views at Network54. We have had our services on the free board dropped, PLUS Network54 has started soliciting membership to pay approxiamtly a $2 a month access charge to you the SPS membership.
This has nothing to do with POWER, EGO, etc. AIM for months you talked of this board as some sort of tool for T Basilio, far from it! We are an independent free standing board with expenses. The Teams link to us was one sided, they did not pay and we offered a service. This in exchange for publicity to bring in folks that have our similar intersts AND THOSE that we could not find after Tony shut down the original Next Level Convro board.
We added a domain name so that folks could find us using http://www.sportsparlorsouth.com Expense $96 a year hosting fee and a one time transfer fee and registration of $45 to buy our domain name from a defunct soccer club in France. AIM this is a hobby for myself and TBA, not a business. I expect to pay some for the priviledge to post here and be creative(as uncreative as I am) but $400 dollars out of TBA and my pocket is a bit much. Charging an access fee will not work. Begging for funds from our friends-NEVER. Getting someone to donate-pay for this for a little recognition, YES!

life than you came across in that post.

First off, my response to this thread has to do with the spirit of Free Trade. I don't want to make a mountain out of a mole hill, but it appears CD feels somewhat slighted and would like the chance to re-invent/revamp this forum after you folks have headed over to the new site-- too me (an uneducated contributer) that sounds like a reasonable/ almost logical request, seeing how he apparently founded this site.
****
I understand from a business standpoint why you folks feel the need to make a move, but what harm will come from giving CD the opportunity (assuming he accepts the financial responsibilty for this enterprise) to revive this forum ???
****
More importantly, I don't see why you, Little Al or Brock feel the need to question the motives or personally attack folks (like myself, CD or even the notorius VH-- whom I must admit I despise, but despite that fact, I just ignore him). Any cheap shots I may take at you (PV), Little Al or Brock stems from the over inflated egos you folks display on a daily basis.
****
I love a good debate / argument but unfortunately you folks can't stay on message. Rather than responding to a specific thread, too often you folks start name calling when you can't compete in this (pro)verbial jabfest.

I presented you with a very in depth over view of why we are doing what we are. I could give you another solution to this problem. Lock the board down to members only entering or viewing. Distribute a password to only those we want to have it, and limit views. Under that scenario perhaps many now on this board would never have joined us, they would be unable to join, view posts, and run up costs. That would work until Network54 started charging posters that $2 fee.
That means a base of about 20 would post back and forth until they got bored, or died and the board would never grow. We are charged viewing even if the viewers are not members of this forum. Under this solution we could lower views to 100 a day LOL.
My solution to you and CD is create a forum, I would be glad to link you to the SPS! Plans exist for this board as an archive in a read only status with a link to SPS for anyone that stumbles in looking for the board. We REFUSE to not service the SPS bunch like the shutdown of the CONVRO accomplished, we will provide a link.
Financially I think you made some valid points but obvioulsy if CD is going to take over the site, one would assume he would have to take financial responsibility for it-- so isn't that aspect a moot point ??
In your response to my post:
"This has nothing to do with POWER, EGO, etc. AIM for months you talked of this board as some sort of tool for T Basilio, far from it!"
Then in your follow-up post you make another bizarre point about me teaming up with CD ???? Excuse me, what is that all about ??? No offense but I'm not even the slightest bit interested, nor have I intimated anything along those lines.
PV you appear to be the biggest conspiracy theorist this side of Martin Scorcese.
I will once again try to clarify my point of view, I find it highly amusing that every time you folks (the three stooges) can't find away to win a discussion, you folks attack the person you are debating, much the same way Little Al verbally attacked CD.
Plus I am a firm believer that competition makes everyone better and I believe that would be the same in this case.
Probably won't be until tomorrow.

BTW I was very disappointed that last week you were writing off Derek Stribling as a lost cause or a wasted scholarsip ?? Why ?? Why ??? Why ???
Please don't to be so quick to write off a talented young player. Yesterday against Auburn with about 7 minutes left in the second half, did you see Stribling take his man off the dribble, when he went baseline ??? Even though Derek, was called for a charge, he showed quality ball handling and scored a bucket on that play (I know the ref disallowed the bucket), but that was a big time move. Few players on this level can make that move on a regular basis.
I really believe that Stribling athleticicsm is a perfect fit for Peterson's system and next year following Yarbrough's departure, along with another year of natural maturity, Stribling will be at the very least, a solid three year contributer to this program-- if not more than that.
I gave a reponse. This is my last post on this subject on this board. We will keep this board up on a read only basis for at least 6 months so that folks that have visited here and are members if they drop in will be able to get a link to where the new board resides. PERIOD! Basilio left everyone hanging when the convro board was shut down, we will not do the same. Also this will act as an archive for reference. CD has a new e-mail address Aand can set a new board up with little problem. At that time I would be honored to assist him with a link to our board. Hell I will host graphics for him at the web site. Copies of links will also be provided. In fact I have already copied the top html to a page, be glad to send that to CD. SportsParlorNorth has a ring to it. Or Sports Parlor MidWest!!!
