thread started by Parts Unknown. PU & some others make some great points concerning "Neyland's Maxims", and about 7-10 posts into the thread OMG comes up with a great idea about these maxims becoming part of the UT pre-game. As some us on PU's thread have eluded to, we think our fans would be a helluva lot more inspired by words from the General vs. hearing the embarrassing "Two bits" & "Orange/White" calls from our cheerleaders.
Please give input & if you think it's a good idea, go on Basilio's show & spread the word. I've got 990 covered and I'm going to call a contact in the UTAD & TBA is going to call Dewey.

E-mailed Dewey and let him know I will kick off his show Monday with the maxims.I'm afraid if I cought him off guard he wouldn't be sure where I am coming from. Then again that point is always debateable!
instead of just beating our gums. One of the reasons I'm on this board is that it seems to have potential to actually affect things.
In addition to calling the local talk shows, we need to get this proposal in writing in the KNS.
We also need to take this in person – in written detail – to the right people at UTAD. My personal contacts over there are running thin. I can reach out and touch Haywood Harris, but I won't tolerate Bud Ford and he ain't crazy about me.
OMG – I'll be in Knoxville Wednesday and Thursday. You want to get together and pound this out? Anyone else want to convene on this? It's a fabulous idea.
Ca-sey fired his gun and the gators started runnin.............

Wed I'm in Abingdon Va so possibly Thurs I could join in.
I thought about the Senseless too and noticed today there was not even one letter in the sports section.
But the thing to do would be to start building the story on the radio waves and then get in touch with one of the reporters to do a story on it.
Like you said CV, lets do it right so before I write a letter or anything else, lets get some more feedback in here.
Mayby someone with contacts to Adams, Lundy or whomever.
If Jeff is calling the snooze, mayby he can press the point with Hymes????
Brocky, that's a great idea..hopefully someone out there has an audio tape our Neyland's voice reciting the MAXIMS or just Neyland's voice period...talking about getting the crowd to a fever pitch..Bama does a great opening with Bear Bryant talking about the Tide in their pre-game on their Jumbotron and they go beeeezerk...The question is; are we smart enough to give the man who made UT football what it is his just recognition??..A statue of Neyland kneeling and locate it near the north side of the stadium...or his voice before a game..Point is we just need to make sure future generations know whom our stadium is named after and who built Tennessee Football into a southern power..............
folks forget greatness, the Conference sheepCalls website had a "question of the week" that was worded similar to this: "Who's had the most influence in the SEC?".
The Choices:
Hershel Walker
Paul "Bear" Bryant
Roy Kramer
Skip Bertman (LSU baseball)
Pete Maravich
With all the winning and all the innovations Neyland brought to college football & he's not even on this stinkin' list?? This is EXACTLY why Tennessee folks ought to keep Neyland's memory as more than just a stadium, street, and 1/2 a name in a sports complex. We need to find a way to keep some kind of "living" memory.
It was an outright disgrace that RRN's name was left off that list in favor of Kramer or hell anybody. Did you see the thread I started about it? I'm not very popular on that board.
