Dear Sonneteer,

while surfing the web looking for a suitable amplifier (high performance, no nonsense) I stumbled upon your product: the Campion.
i read that the Camion has 2 active and 3 passive input channels. I understand the active are used for CD/DVDplayers, probably also TV input and Radioinput (from tuner).
I am looking for an amplifier on which I can connect:
-recordplayer (phono)
-dvdplayer
-television
-tuner
-computer (for mp3 use..)
i understand for this you'd need 4 active input if I'm correct?
My question: why only 2? or can I connect these sources
also on the passive inputs of the amplifier.

Any help on this would greatly be appreciated, since i must say that I'm completely in love with the looks of this machine, and reading from the reviews it performs amazingly as well for an affordable price!

regards,
kris

Hi Kris,

The Campion has 3 Active and 2 Passive inputs and not the other way round.

Generally the passive inputs are suitable for sources with higher output (2V) like CD / DVD players so you can conetc those here.

The Active inputs are suitale to lower level sources (1V) like Tape decks TV VCR etc.

You can also order the Campio with a built in phono (MM TYPE) input. In that case you have 2 passive inputs and 2 active inouts and 1 phono input.

f you already have a phono stage then you can connect your phono stage output to one of the active outputs.

I hope it is clearer for you now.

Best regards

Sonneteer

thanks for your reply,

it's somewhat clearer now indeed, but what are radio and computer output then?
also: is there a difference between the level source of analogue and digital equipment; I assume all inputs are analogue of course, but I mean like RDS radio or it's successor DAB.
besides that, at the moment i have a NAD 712 receiver, and when I change the cd input from CD to any other: aux, video, tape it plays/ sounds exactly the same!
(perhaps I have bad ears)
so what would be the effect when I would connect the cd to a low input source or viceversa?

thanks for your time
kris

sorry the delay in reply...

Currently all line sources are a 1V except CD and DVD. I am not so sure about DAB, but DVB is still 1V.

what it means is the the CD/DVD source will sound louder than radio TV VCR when plug into the same input.

So the DIR and CD input in the Campion is less passive so it can take the higher (2V) outputs from teh CD player. The rese sources may need to be pre-amplified by the L1 L2 and Tp inputs

How that helped.

Regards

Sonneteer
