Just the usual tricks you already know about... Varipitch is the obvious choice. I've also used the d-beam pitch controller to vary the tempo. Just lower your hand slowly until the BPMs are OK then turn off the pitch light on the d-beam, that'll only slow it down though. I dunno man, there's not a lot of options for tempo shifting when you use audio files. I try to limit myself to projects at even BPMS, right now I have zips of 90, 100 and 120 BPM projects/samples/whatever. If you trigger samples from an sequencer that's an easy way to control the tempo, but the loops won't loop anymore.
