The 808's great at time stretch!

by John Westwood

Yes, yes - I know about the internal time stretch feature of the 808 and/or it's quantise settings as well. I just thought at the time WaveLab might be even more accurate and visual to get some tight ass loops happening. What sounds great in WaveLab doesn't always sound great in the 808. BUT, the 808 stretches better, even if you have to say 113.9 and roll up the END POINT to 114.00 afterwards. So yes, I'm going to stick with that now. As for Quantise, which one do you mean - in sample edit, or SONG Realtime Record?
I don't like the Realtime, as it always gives me 'Disk Busy' when I play back. But I must say it's good to get a visual on how to step enter everything and have it make a seamless phrase.

Now if we could just figure out the trick on how to make the 808 record it's own Vari-Phrase onto a Pad or Track - now that would be magic!
