Screen light getting bad?

I'm getting worried now that my trusty SP808's 'Classic' display is starting to fail?
I'm using optical, and have noticed if Khz differences from my laptop aren't 44.1, that can really mess up the screen. However, recently my screen has been flickering and/or fading, and all settings have been standard. I finally lightly tapped the screen, and it came back to a sturdy bright shine. It stayed that way for a day or two, then started flickering again. A few taps, and it's back. It's temporary fix, but one of these days I'm going to have to take this beast in for a new screen.

I hope Rolands doesn't let me down and/or rape me for $250.00 for a new LCD display?
