This is what I found re: switching out the beige for the original black faceplate:

"Did you know you can take the faceplate off the old one and put it on the
new 250? It takes a little inginuity... You also have to switch the clear
'buttons' (actually a really long piece of plastic).. And you have to remove
a piece of metal from the 250's outer shell.. It gets in the way... but in
the end you have the beautiful black faceplate from the original and not
some tan nasty thing."
