you want to get the atapi internal zip drive. atapi is the kind of connection used in the 808. they are quite common and cheaper than the external units. i got mine for $120.
you are correct about the 750drive, it can read 100mb disks but cannot write to them.
the lil doohickey options on the back are known as op2 and op1. they offer digital and optical inputs and outputs. people that have them seem very happy.
list price is around $250, but some webstores sometimes offer them for $50,
