Finally, after much effort, have upgraded..... now a req: for help with midi

Been lurking on here for a while, having recently bought an SP 808, and have eventually managed to upgrade from my pc via midi (thanks to who ever posted the URL for the upgrades. (PS. Anyone looking for the files should simply read the back posts on this board, because the correct info is on here. Just takes a little finding)
Anyway. I struggled with my SB live value, as the midi port didn't seem to either send or receive data. I borrowed a live drive 2 off a friend and used the out port on that.
My question now is, is there a resource detailing how I can set up a sequencer (either acid pro 4 or sonar 2.0)to run the SP 808(ex:)? This is my first foray into using external equipment (after many moons of using rebirth/ reason etc.)
Any help out there?
