I got ahold of a tiny little program called Tuareg 2 - www.brambos.com - and it really rocks. I threw in VOX's Alice Project samples CD and started playing around. Before I knew it I had a whole song sequenced. I was contemplating throwing vocals on it through the PC. Instead, I dusted the 808 off a little and - using headphones as a mic - started rhyming into my old friend.

It's only partly done and pretty crunched down but the point it that these soft synth programs that cost $35 are capable of doing things I couldn't even imagine a couple of years ago! However, I still love my 808 for recording guitars and vocals; the effects are really unbeatable for what I do.

BTW, It's really nice to see some of the old players back here again! Now will someone please remind me how to get a pad-to-track and vice-versa?!
