"Wrong Sample Rate " message

I own an old 808, with a 250mb zip onboard and EX updated. I use its digital input with a digital mixer. Yesterday the display showed me a "wrong sample rate" error message. Disk ( a 250 one) died. The next disk the same. Previously the box didnīt recognise the digital in and changed it to Mic/line.
Old disks seem work properly. But those two are useles. Also, I had not backups
Has digital input any effect on disks average life?
