750 drive bugs

by knobt

hi Franky
i'm not sure how many have tried the 750 zip drives.
ive been using one for about 6 months in my updated 808 classic.
one time when i came back from 7 weeks vacation, it wouldn't access bank 3 of 1 disk, but i ejected the disk, restarted, reloaded the offending disk and it was fine. thats about the only glitch ive experienced.

Kamaro tried a 750drive and had a bad time with it, a similar story to yours. check some of the posts from nov/dec 2003.
i don't know if he sorted it, or went back to 250drive.

if your 808 worked fine for a few days, then started dicking around, your install should've been ok.

one point - i tend to use my 808 as a hard disk recorder, recording 5-10 minute analog synth frenzies. i basically never use it to program and sequence small samples, such as single drum hits.
maybe that makes a difference...or maybe it reveals how poor my understanding of zip technology is?

sorry this isn't more helpful. you could try the iomega techie support - they have a guy online 24/7. he will come back and tell you the 750 hasn't been tested for the 808, but he may be able to give you some hints as to how to fix, or why it doesn't work.
goo'luck
