I'm pretty sure a song on the master808 would have to be playing the whole time you are trying to affect the slave808's pitch. I think the MIDI-tempo info is only sent when a song is in progress. You could always just cut the volume off if you just wanted to play samples on both 808's using vari-pitch.............more polyphony....soundz FUN!
