sample cd/disk

i don't know of an oem sample cd. new sp808s came with a demo disk full of samples. for what it was it was okay, but i'm sure everyone grew tired of it quickly.
you don't really need anything like that to get started.
get samples from anywhere.....if you are really new to sampling, maybe a good way to start is to plug in your ipod/cd player, etc, sample some sections of a few of your favorite tracks, mess around making loops and adding fx, sequence it together and you have your own remix - voila!

you mentioned upgrading - the original black box sp808 came with version 1 OS, it is a fairly simple matter to upgrade it. a search thru the archives or google will tell you how. it is worth doing for the vocoder, also worth putting in a larger zip drive.
if you have the translucent pink version....well AFAIK no upgrade is available.
