zip250/zip100 compatability?

OK, I have an SP 808 v.1 with the zip100 drive. I have a bunch of samples on zip100 discs. I'm thinking of picking up a second sp-808 with the OP upgrade which may or may not be upgraded to the EX os ( I just asked the seller).

I want the second machine as

1) a backup

2) to use in my studio and take the older one to gigs

3) to have the op upgrade so I can make backups of my present discs.

I have gathered that the 250 zipdrive will read my zip100 discs but not record on them. Is there a way around that? Would I just have to buy zip250 discs for any new work on this (new) machine?

My other question is whether I would be able to use it to make backups of my existing discs....which is the main reason I want another one in the first place. I considered just buying the OP-upgrade thing but it seems more economical to just get another machine with that already installed.
