some testing results...byOkay, I've been testing this out somewhat further for some time now and here are the main quirks, I posted that the 2 GB SD card formatted no problem but later found that I was unable to reformat the card on windows. So once you format a card for the 808, certain cards will stay that way. I have been testing various name brand cards as well as ideal size capacities and concluded that the 2 GB card as well as 1 GB cards ARE excessive and you do not get a full gigs worth. The total sampling time for either card was 2 hrs 13 min. I even tested that and recorded the full time amount and that's exactly what I got. I decided to try a 256 SD card and it's total sampling time was just over an hour. So the ideal size card would likely be a 512. I def prefer the SD cards as they load the fastest as well as format. Oh and here was an interesting tidbit... The wav converter software will only recognize cards if there is an existing sample on them already, I found out that in order to use the software to load a card with my samples I had to sample at least a micro second of dead air and then load samples... and later erase the "dead air" sample. For some reason the "Kingtson" card I tried wouldn't load samples but would back them up no prob. There have been zero issues with lost samples, freezing, or lock-ups of any kind. oh and yes, the samples are in "pages" like normal I am amazed at how fast the cards are when formatting, as well as sample tools like "create reversal" the cards speed things up for sure. I'd bet that the micro second sampling is more solid and that the sample response time is even quicker than before. Yeah I said it. This is a fairly solid upgrade so long as you use 512 SD for efficiant memory use/speed and don't require the software for loading samples but even that works most of the time. As for micro second samples I haven't really tested yet but will def push this machine to the max and get back to ya. from IP address 67.183.151.99 Goto Forum Home |
