Response to Modelkasten Tracks and Enamals

The problem I had was also enamel washes. The pins melted even with the lightest wash I could give and still get results.The alternate method I used was a base coat of dark earth brown and then varying pastel chalks, final step was graphite on the raised surfaces. Came out very nice and looked real. Hope this helps.
