Mr. Color question

I am brushing on Mr. Color lacquers for the first time and noticed how think it is. I have heard that lacquers are the best for brush painting but I am getting horrible results with this brand. The paint reminds me of liquid putty and does not coat evenly. The bottles are less than a year old and the different colors I used all behave this way. Any ideas on what to do?
