Airbrushing?

I've always been a brush painter but I recently bought an airbrush. I'd like to use it on my armor kits but I'm not sure about the best method. Lots of the articles I've read seem to show the kit almost entirely assembled, including the bogies and tracks, prior to painting. Is that the best method? Should I simply airbrush the entire kit the base color and then do the detail work on the tracks and bogies and other areas with a brush? Any advice would be most appreciated.

Mark
