havnt heard of any thing to remove the resedue but im sure there are things on todays market to do so,u could try a matt varnish to blend it in with your model it may b the best bet as some solutions can dim the paint even with the most gental rubbing but hang out as im sure there maybe a more pratical answer hope u get the result your looking for
