Response to primer problem

Hi Mike

I've just looked here for the first time and may be able to help. I assume they are acrylic rattle cans. I use these a great deal for work and the trick is to get them warm. This is what we do

Use a kettle that the can will fit into and boil about 3/8 of it. Add cold water to the 3/4 mark put the can in and put something on it to hold it down. Leave about 5 to 10 minutes.

Take it out and give it a good shake for 2 to 3 minutes. Hold it about 12 inches from the model and you'll be fine. Any heavy drops will fall away and not reach the model.

To get it off if it goes wrong use Castrol SuperClean degreaser or similar. The active bit is 5% solution of lye. If you can get access to a ultrasonic cleaner they work really well but you may lose etched details in either case. A plastic tray under the model will catch them I use a tupperware snap lid. Mr Muscle has changed, at least in the UK, and no longer works in our experience. We used to get through quite a bit of it.

HTH
