Response to Casting Materials Question

It is probably going to cost more money to buy the casting materials and resin than it would be to buy the burnt out road wheel set. Casting is great if you want to make a lot of something but it is not really cost effective if you only need a few parts. I have used Smooth-On casting products with great success but the smallest RTV kit available is around $30 and that does not include casting resin.
You might try removing the plastic from the kit part at low speed if possible. My Dremel is not adjustable for speed so I use a drill mounted in a small drill press fixture with whatever Dremel bit I need. At low speed I am able to work plastic without causing damage to the part.
