Removing paint from diecasts.

Back in the 80s in France, I removed the paint from diecast cars easyly. Next time I tried, couple of years ago, in Germany, with various paint removers nothing seemed to work.

Is the paint harder on diecast nowadays? Or the paint removers weaker?

Any tips to get back to bare metal please? I have a few 1/32 cars I would like to "treat", before detailing and repaint.

Thanks for your help!
