Had to hand sand out some groves on a part at work. Problem is I could not reach the area. Made a homemade sanding stick that some people might find handy. Parts needed: sandpaper, doubleback carpet tape and a flat stick (I was using a stir stick from local hardware store, you could also use craft sticks). Cut a length of sandpaper the width of your stick. Apply the doubleback tape to your stick and then apply your sandpaper. Works real nice. Once the paper wears out, remove the paper and tape and start over. The nice thing is if you need a real narrow stick, just slice your stick. Hope this is useful.
There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want.

I've actually been doing a similar thing for quite a while, however, I use a dab of rubber cement to glue the sandpaper onto a craft stick or coffee stirrer. I use a clothespin to clamp down the sandpaper so that it adheres flatly to the stick.
