Matt varnish problem ( with Vallejo )

Hi, I finished my first two figures using Vallejo paints, then used the Vallejo Matt Varnish to "seal" the paint, and it turned the finish very "satin" like.
Would my Testors Matt Enamel Dullcote be OK to bring the finish back to Matt?
Any other ideas?
Regards, Rick

Maybe I can help...

February 13 2004, 11:30 AM

Rick, I have been using vallejo matt varnish on my figures for some time now with good results. I found that by spraying several light coats (sometimes up to 5 or 6!) I can get things pretty flat.

This guy took at least 4 coats if I can recall.
I hope this helps.

regards
Gary

A question...

February 13 2004, 2:38 PM

...I brushed on the Varnish using ditilled water as a thinner. Do you recommend airbrushing only, and do you use thinners?
Great work by the way.

Yes Rick, I certainly recommend airbrushing your Matt coat, just "mist" it on in light sprays and several coats later you'll get the result you desire.
Yes I do use distilled water as a thinner.

Thanks for your kind remarks
Gary
