This is my first try at using powders...I bought some MMP "Worn OD" for a M10 I'm finishing up. What is the best way to apply it? "Dry" straight from the jar? Do I mix it with "something"? Any help is greatly appreciated and I'll apologize in advance for asking a question that's probably been run into the dirt.

MMP Powders

December 4 2004, 1:26 AM

Hi Jeff,

I've used both the MMP and MIG pigments/powders. You can apply these powders in a couple of different ways.

Using a brush straight from the bottle. Just apply and spread with the brush. Give. This method works well to apply dust. With a stiffer brush, you can work the powder in so that it stays.

Another option is mix the powders with alcohol, water or turpenoid. Mixing colors together with a liquid allows you to use the powders to apply rust stains, fuel/oil stays, mud, dust, soot, ash.

My advice is the take a cheap model and experiment. I have a Tamiya SHerman Jumbo that I use to test out painting ideas/techniques, powder/pigments, color mixes, etc.

HTH,
Steve
