Has anyone tried aluminum tape for zimmerit?

It seems as though it could be a good solution for small, difficult-to-work areas--like the rear plate of a Pz IV, for instance. It's basically just thick aluminum foil with a sticky back, which means you can cut it to shape, apply it, then emboss a pattern in it. As I said, it SEEMS as though it would work...but before committing myself, I'd like to find out if anyone has an informed opinion on this.
