What is the best product to use to thin lacquer based clear flat coat?

I would assume lacquer thinner but that stuff is pretty strong. Is there another product I can use to thin out the flat varnish?

TIA
Peter

The stuff is designed for the job, is easily available and pretty cheap.

If you're worried about envrironmental or health issue, then consider something else other than lacquer based varnishes

On the other hand if the concern is that the lacqueris too hot for the paint underneath, the trick is to build up lacquer in mutiple fine coats rather than trying to get a full wet coat on the first pass - this way the solvents evaporate before they can mess up the underlying paint
