Yeah that is normal. In my old shop class, we built cars that used a pierced 12 gm for a propellent and that little cartridge sent those cars like a rocket across the room. You would not want to unscrew the changer with a full 12 gram. Remember that it is pushing with a lot of force against the changer, which makes it nearly impossible to remove. Good thing at that too.
