DAYTONA BEACH -- Florida's bright yellow school buses, powered by diesel fuel, may be exposing schoolchildren to toxic pollutants harmful to their health, two recent reports say..........

......an average Florida school bus emits 120 times more soot than a typical car, .........

...........concentrations of pollutants inside diesel buses sometimes reach levels five to 10 times higher than average traffic exhaust................

...............The Yale report also said there is no known safe level of exposure to diesel exhaust for children, especially those with respiratory illnesses.............

.......................the Environmental Protection Agency recognizes diesel fumes as a likely human carcinogen. Diesel fumes are also linked to respiratory and heart diseases, decreased lung function, chronic bronchitis and worsened asthma conditions, said Tanya Meekins, a spokesperson for the agency...................

Those lousy American buses! Not like our 'clean green' buses, as forced upon us by the anti-car zealots in an effort to 'clean up' our city air.
Red Ken is currently on a mission to get more buses onto London's streets. Thank God they will be ultra-clean British buses, the saviour of our children.

NOT.

But aren't "we" going to be buying these yellow american buses?

I wonder how big that donation was ? : - (

(Mind you, the buses will probably be quite cheap - no doubt the old ones they're trying to get rid of ! : - (
