DAYTONA BEACH -- Florida's bright yellow school buses, powered by diesel fuel, may be exposing schoolchildren to toxic pollutants harmful to their health, two recent reports say..........

...........concentrations of pollutants inside diesel buses sometimes reach levels five to 10 times higher than average traffic exhaust................
...............The Yale report also said there is no known safe level of exposure to diesel exhaust for children, especially those with respiratory illnesses.............
.......................the Environmental Protection Agency recognizes diesel fumes as a likely human carcinogen. Diesel fumes are also linked to respiratory and heart diseases, decreased lung function, chronic bronchitis and worsened asthma conditions, said Tanya Meekins, a spokesperson for the agency...................
