Law and order in the UK, (or whats left of it)
Gun Law in Nottingham >> Blunkett initiatives >> Police protest >> Customs and Excise >> Notts police chief rapped by MPs >> Notts police miss targets and raise taxes >> Tony Martin the nations hero >>

Notts Police fail to provide an effective service for the public, tell us something we dont know Mr Blakey! - Now its official - you dont have to take our word for it just read the report from HM inspector David Blakey.
"if you lived, worked or visited Notts , you were more likely to have a crime committed against you than anywhere else in the country." Isnt that what we have been saying for months?
The "green, socially orientated policing" notts people are being subjected to isnt working. Just look at these examples. It took 20mins for an officer to attend a recent violent incident near Eastwood leaving ample time for the villains to escape. In the end the locals themselves sorted it out and rescued the victim. How do we know, because one of our contributors was there.

Burglary is up, murder rates have doubled, yes doubled, so much for gun amnesties, we the public need the guns to do what this Police force cant, thats protect the public.

Good job Notts Police are not on productivity bonus and can jack up the council tax to pay for their pensions

Now thats really good, Notts police have seen such a rise in crime in the Notts area they have been allowed to put their share of the tax precept up 28% despite all time high crime figures. This "other arm " of social services as they have become known and who spend much of their time harrassing law abiding motorists have missed their crime target by 2000. Well the answers clear to all other forces, fail and get the money, succeed and get less. Good one Mr Blunkett.
Gun Amnesty fails
By any stretch of the imagination the gun amnesty in Notts has yielded how many illegal guns, 20, 30,50,100, sorry, but it was 13, yes 13 and they were handed in by owners who were not criminals or inclined to be but mainly weapons from the 2nd world war which were souveneirs. Sorry lads but criminals dont operate to the laws which you are paid to enforce, and lets face it you have trouble doing that mainly due to your wappy management and political masters.

Gun Crime to show 100% increase since Labour came to power

Figures to be announced this week will show that Labour has failed to tackle violent crime. Blunketts meetings with Police officers will no doubt, again, come out with platitudes and more restrictions for the ordinary citizen without tackling the real issue of tracking down and locking the thugs up.

Shootings are now running at 22 per week and gun related crimes are even higher, whats the Blair answer, ban air guns. Well done Tone nice to see your finger is on the pulse of the nation. Jeez

Teen Escapes Fine By 'Sitting Quietly'

25 March 2004
A teenage driver guilty of motoring and drug offences was let off more than £400 fines - because he sat still in court for half an hour.

Mark Jones, 19, faced fines totalling £417 after admitting a string of driving offences and possessing cannabis.

But instead of making him pay up, Port Talbot magistrates offered to waive the fines - if he sat at the back of the court for 30 minutes until lunchtime.

Drivers' groups and worried civic leaders attacked the "stupidity" of the lenient sentence. And Jones, himself, later said : "I've been lucky."

Jones, of Briton Ferry, near Neath, admitted driving without a licence, insurance, or MOT after being stopped by police in a car in Port Talbot. He also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis.

He was let off with a conditional discharge for the drugs offence, and was also banned from driving for six-months.

[Banned!?!

But he drives unlicensed anyway!!!]

He was fined £100 for driving without insurance, and magistrates were told he already owed £317 for previous offence of driving without road tax.

Magistrate Lynda Heycock told him to sit at the back of the room at 1240 GMT.

When they broke for lunch at 1315 GMT he was free to go - with his fines wiped clean.

Later he said: "I've been lucky with magistrates. But this is the last time in court for me - no more."

[Yeah, right!

He's that terrifed of being let off?

Or just of having to sit quietly waiting for his lunch for half an hour?!?!?!?]

Road safety experts condemned the penalty as a "mockery".

Mark Christie, spokesman for the Association of British Drivers, said: "This is another case of magistrates making themselves look not very clever.

"The court is making a mockery of the offence by coming down on people who get caught by speed cameras while letting people off for far more serious offences."

Local councillor Ted Wheatley said: "There is just not enough social discipline in this country," he said.

"This teenager is a typical example of the stupidity of the law."

'Happy go Lucky'! Teenager

March 26 2004, 10:23 AM

WTF? Are courts giving school type 'Detentions' now or what!?!

Is there any wonder why people drive with no tax, insurance, mot, or licence, in vehicles not registered in their name? (whilst, pi$$ed/drugged up)

They can travel around doing 70+ in 30mph zones get 'caught' on Scamera, but never 'traced'!

The chances of being stopped by police is virtually zero, and the 'penalty'? imposed no deterrent!

It's been statistically proven that the vast majority of 'non stop' RTA's, and certain other criminal offences involving vehicles relate to 'unregistered' motors.

Whats the betting that, 'Lucky Lad' left the court, 'nicked' a car to get home in, and will continue his criminal activities whilst thumbing his nose at the cops!?!

When he said, (after his court case)
>"This is the last time in court for me - no more."
This will be quoted in his next court appearance (if he's 'lucky' enough to get caught!) as his 'defence' plea!

and as for,
>"This teenager is a typical example of the stupidity of the law."

Surely that should read, This case is a typical example of the stupidity of incompetant magistrates unworthy of holding office!
