Good to see he can still make a genuine contribution to the pro-motor debate.

Who has taken over from Diesel Ed / Bogush?

Frankly I couldn't care less - when they surface
I'll ignore them as efficiently as I did the others. I've no problem with subversion, but I do like it to be succinct and in sentences, so I can digest it in what little time I have between contributing to the Nanny State and trying to keep the house clean

[ What’s she on (about?) , and who is she for that matter?

Do I know her? No. Well, only as the aptly named "rude girl"! ]

Good to see the Speed Plod & the Law thread is still full of sensible, serious, Speed Plod & the Law type discussions conducted by intelligent, polite, respectful contributors.

Well, at least thay all seem to be integrating sucessfully.

Apart from mybrainhurts.

Perhaps he realises the dangers of people who are two closely related integrating too much.

But what'd it all about you might ask?

What's It All About? - They Don't Like You Posting Stuff Like This - NOT!

Would you mind speaking in English please. I don`t understand fluent bollox.

What has the rubbish you have posted got to do with the fact that at 11pm there is a definate hazard from pedestrians who are the worse for wear.

Oh yes - no-one "deserves a funeral" for stepping into the road.
The driver was going to fast. Is that too difficult a concept for you? Whatever you consider a reasonable speed, the posted limit was 30mph. End of argument.

And -

Sir, you really are one of the most offensive dweebs I have ever had the misfortune to "meet". Actually, you are the first and second most offensive....etc etc. But thats another story.

Are you sponsored by Euthenasia R Us? You are the best advert for the "assisting" of demented old fools that I can think of.

Go on then, start another load of bolox about "personal attacks" and "insults" etc. I really couldn`t give a sh*t.

Actually, what they actually don't like you to do is to actually make clear when you are not quoting someone by doing something like this:

towman might as well have said:

Oh yes - no-one "deserves a funeral" for stepping into the road. The driver was driving a great big heavy cumbersome impractical uneconomic wasteful dangerous 4x4/ TVR/ luxury car. Is that too difficult a concept for you? Whatever you consider a reasonable vehicle, the road was an urban playstreet. End of argument.

A concern for the CC was that another missing person has been reported.

Someone by the name of Mr Edward Diesel has not been seen or 'herd' of for some days now. It was thought at some stage that he may have gone off to join the missing Ilk and efforts to locate both of them are continuing. There is some speculation that both of those missing may be related. There was a rumour that Mr Edward Diesel was taking a spoof identity from an important cyber identity being Mr Teddy Petrol. In fact it was Mr teddy Petrol who started us on the trail that Mr Diesel was in fact a previous missing person known as 'Bogbrush' (a gift from doG).…………..

……….This is an official press release with regard to the missing Ilk.

I think what has upset me more than anything is that their tests have "proved" I am no good as a manager. I know I am the right person for the job. It`s a real downer on my confidence.

Take on board the fact that you might have been wrong when you thought that it was you that was in the right. Even if your mates backed you up to the hilt (ouch!). Another case of deja vu!? Where have I seen that before?

An update..

Had my "feedback" telephone call today.

Told me that generally I was OK, but did not come over quite right at the interview. I told her that I had not had an interview in the last 20 years,so what did she expect.

Told her that in my opinion they had not recruited the right people for the job, instead they had recruited people who knew how to "play the game" at an interview. Told her that I felt cheated and that the interview was set up so that "failures" would succeed. By that I mean that someone who has gone for loads of interviews, but has not got the job should know what they are doing by now, and hence have the right answers to the questions.

Incidently, the job was for a HATO manager, and not one of the other applicants who were there for assessment had ever done any sort of roadside work!

As someone posted above, if theye base their recruitment on a load of psychbabble b*llshit, they are not really someone I want to work for.

Steve

It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

Especially for a “public” appointment.

If you really want it: get to know some of the people there, get them to let you know if there are any more vacancies there (even if they know that they are really internal):

And get them to ask the HR people to send you an application form!

Failing that:

That's what a lot of agencies do. Fill up an interview with candidates who are total BS'ers who can hopefully earn them commission, whilst people like you who can do their job with their eyes closed don't get a look in.

In my experience, think who you'd like to work for, ring them up and ask to speak to their HR Manager/Director and state your case that you're bloody good at what you do.

If they've anything about them, they'll realise you've got confidence in you're ability and ask you to see them.

Go for it!

The 85th percentile, as in speed limits should be, as they used to be, set to the 85th percentile speed, is the whole basis of the argument against arbitrary speed limits in general, and the lowering of speed limits in particular, especially in conjunction with draconian enforcement by speed cameras.

If I Was A Bit More Cynical

April 24 2005, 4:28 PM

I'd jump to the conclusion that Pistonheads was a clever spoof by T2000.

You know, generally taking the mick out of motorists.

By allowing them to shoot themselves in the foot by slagging each other off.

Providing a forum for various factions to campaign against drink (not drunk) driving / bull bars / 4x4s / school run drivers / people who are nearly killed by pedestrians throwing themselves at their cars / etc / etc.

And for various factions to go over the top defending sports cars / speeding / etc / etc.

And even a place for them to show themselves up boasting about how the "practical" jokes they've played.

And to attack and denigrate other motorists.

(Hang on, do I recognise that Towman?)

But never actually allowing anything that would support their cause to be posted.

Especially if it tries to go into any depth with supporting argument.

Or even proof!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Take this thread for example:

dropped kerb.....they think they own...

Ordinary motorist, doing nobody any harm, posts a simple reasonable technical legal query.

About a simple action a reasonable ordinary motorist might perform.

That does nobody any harm.

And gets mauled by the Pist onheads.

As does anyone coming to his defence.

So the Pist onheads must really be.................?

Wonder how long this will last?

UK motorways designed and constructed with inadequate drainage making them unsafe at 50 when it rains.... unlit motorways....... congestion engineering forcing pedestrians closer to traffic/ traffic closer to pedestrians/ cyclists/ other traffic..... most dangerous pedestrians/ children in the EU.....

And we still (for the moment) have the safest roads in the world.

IE, despite having the most dangerous roads, our drivers make them the safest!

New Topic: No Go Zones For L Drivers

Nottingham Evening Post said:
No go roads for L-plate drivers

Sean Kirby Environment Correspondent

25 April 2005

Angry residents are turning some Notts roads into 'no go' areas for learner drivers.

It is claimed that residents have:

- Verbally abused drivers during lessons and tests

- Stood behind cars during manoeuvres

- Protested to the Driving Standards Agency.

Now 'no go' warning notices at three Notts test centres list streets L-drivers should avoid.

Instructors claim it limits where they can take learners, affecting their driving progress. The problem has been caused by the rising number of learners.

Instructor Lee Burrows, 31, of the A-Level Driving School in Gedling, said: "We are starting to run out of places to go.''

He believes residents need to be more lenient.

Civil engineer Chris Harrison, 47, of Duncroft Avenue, Gedling, said: "You can get four or five cars on the avenue at once, they come in waves."

The DSA's Nottingham-based national headquarters confirmed instructors were asked not to use certain roads if residents complained.

Longer article:

L-plates are driving wedge

So, when they all move to a less suitable area, and so get even more complaints, and so are barred from that area even more quickly, and then move on to an even less suitable area..............
