Gordon Brown has been lining his tax coffers since January 2004 when Diesel was around 74.9p a litre and as risen to 107.9p in some petrol stations now in September 2005.

Thats a windfall from tax on 33p a litre in which he gets `extra' from what he has budgeted for!

So therefore he could cut fuel duty upto 33p a litre without having to put up other taxes!!!

MR GORDON BROWN BLAMES EVERYONE ELSE FOR HIGH FUEL COSTS BUT NOT HIS GOVERNMENT. - Mr Brown your duty is the real problem!

How to twist figures, Bogush style:

"Gordon Brown has been lining his tax coffers since January 2004 when Diesel was around 74.9p a litre and as risen to 107.9p in some petrol stations now in September 2005."

That's comparing the around figure (i.e. average) with the maximum - it's 95.9 to 99.9p/l in most filling stations

"Thats a windfall from tax on 33p a litre in which he gets `extra' from what he has budgeted for!

No for the aforementioned reason it's more like 23p and that's the increase in total cost

So therefore he could cut fuel duty upto 33p a litre without having to put up other taxes!!!

No again because the duty is not 100% of the cost (assumed in this model) or even 99.9% as stated by Bogush in a seperate post.

This thread starts with a lie. - Ignore it.
