Content with petrol price, our country needs the Duty

In these troubled times, the Petrol Goblin must venture forth into the world to state the views of the silent majority:

We are happy with the current price of petrol. Even better that so much of it is tax, to help pay for this great land and the harm done by motor transport. Everyone knows this is a finite resource - anyone involved so closely with the price of petrol (hauliers, farmers, taxi drivers etc) deserves all the hardship that's coming their way.

Petrol prices must rise! Increase the duty and let's see our country thrive!

You're derranged

September 13 2005, 10:52 PM

If you must bring politics into it, I am happy to confess my preference is distinctly Liberal. Which effectively renders me politically neutral. Maybe I just surface when the price of petrol hits the headlines? Or is that too simple and honest an answer for your mind to accept?

But given the choice of Blair or you and your pinko mates like Andrew Spence, I'd pick Blair every single time; and you should wake up and realise that MOST people feel the same way.

I'd rather pay 2 pounds per litre than ever side with the likes of you and Spence, and that's why you will remain an innefectual "Errrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmm" on a little website.

The Petrol Goblin

September 13 2005, 11:31 PM

So when are you coming here to Australia, Petrol Goblin? Our fuel tax is pitifully small and you could do some good work raising the duty here.

Your work is done in the UK. Fuel duty is as high as you are likely to get it. Now you should turn your attention to the colonies and make things better here.

Unleaded is so cheap in Australia that people often fill their swimming pools with it and throw in a match to warm their “back yard”. Surely that is a waste and harmful to the environment?

No no no Arthur, you misunderstand me

September 13 2005, 11:43 PM

As you once said, perhaps in another life, if we can't eat our cake we'd rather throw it away than give it to 'them'.

I'm fighting the pinkos, wherever I find them.

Oh, and...

September 14 2005, 12:30 AM

I'd never desert my homeland and do what you have done. It is a cowardly move and I hope you feel the shame of it. Already you say "Our" as if you're a 'native' Australian (note the quotes). Maybe you always were? I don't know, nor care. If you want to be there then I'm glad you're gone.

I do know I'd rather die than live in the colonies. I'm a British goblin and proud of it. Oh, and while you're living there, your opinions mean less than nothing so show some respect when you talk on this forum.

Fuel protest rally in Melbourne

September 14 2005, 12:33 AM

I've organised a big rally in Melbourne this coming Saturday. We are going to burn down the Caltex refinery, in protest at the low rate of fuel duty in Australia. We are demanding another 15 cents duty on the price of unleaded, with the money going to the Australian cricket academy in an attempt to improve our national team. TPG, I hope that you will be able to lend your support, I’m counting on it, as otherwise I might be the only one attending.

Australia IS British!

September 14 2005, 12:52 AM

If you look that the Australian flag, you will see that it has a big British Flag in the top left hand corner filling 25% of the flag. That means that Australia IS British. You don't see Union Jacks filling 25% of the Iranian, Chinese or US flags do you?

It's the ex pats like me who rule Australia. We just employ the Australians to clean our windows and brush out our pools. Call the Queen and ask her who rules Australia. She will tell you "I do, Mr Petrol Goblin. Do you think that I'd let that moron John Howard rule the place? - No way."

Who tells the Australian troops in Iraq and Afghanistan what toilets to empty and whose boots to polish? - The British of course!

Don't worry about Australian being Australian, because it certainly is not. Almost the entire white population of Australia work in London pubs and the rest are in jail in the US. The indigenous people are still being fed poisoned rice by the government, so we have got the place to ourselves.

We British ex pats are calling out for change. We want Australian fuel duty raised to British levels and we want The Petrol Goblin and The Queen to help us. Otherwise we will have to put even bigger engines in our SUVs and boats in an attempt to use up the excess supply of petrol.

That's the trouble with living in Australia. You put a message on an English forum and then you have to wait 12 hours before anyone in the UK wakes up and reads it and responds the next morning.

I'm only here to dodge the Capital Gains Tax. Another two and a half years and I can return without them putting me in jail or giving me a huge tax bill. I'll sure as hell return, just as soon as I can get back into the country.

This place sucks.
