He has a valid point

September 14 2005, 12:17 AM

And I tend to agree with him.

If any of you raving loonies cause any real trouble, the people will move against you. And hopefully the government will not hesitate to send either the police and/or the army down on you - hard.

Whu can't people like you see that the protesters are fighting this outrageous fuel tax not ONLY for themselves, but for YOU TOO....at least they are doing something constructive and not just sitting back on their office chairs whinging about how much fuel costs....they are the true 'Road Warriors' .... maybe if EVERYONE who drives had the GUTS to join them in thier protest, maybe, just maybe, the bloody government would HAVE to listen.

Just sayin'

You typical pinko

September 14 2005, 8:15 AM

"People like me", eh?

How typical of people like you to say something like that. Let me make some things totally clear for you:

1) I DO NOT WANT anyone to do "this" for me;

2) I DO NOT sit about whinging about the cost of fuel. I sit about thinking it's just fine! And I am here to say so.
The tax on fuel is correct and just, the government are welcome to increase it in my opinion.

So I do not need to protest. Like the majority I wont because like the majority I am content with the price. It's a phenomenon known as the silent majority, where a screaming bunch who are the minority shout about something they want changed, for THEIR OWN self interest.. but in the end the majority do not care and say nothing.. we're just getting on with our lives and trying to work in the real world.

I hope you do try and block the refineries, and I hope you feel the working end of a nightstick.

Has anyone heard the rumour about the organisation that is planning counter protests?

I gather there are plans to protest outside farm entrances and haulage yards of people who disrupt petrol supplies and hold up motorways.

Quite an interesting proposition.

I like it

And I can hear them crying about it already. The farmers will be shouting "Get orrff moi land" and the truckers will be thinking for a long time for something intelligent to say at all.

And they'll expect the police to help them because *they* cant get *their* products to markets. Shame. Then again, they might not bother to ask the police for anything - they'll just take matters into their own selfish hands and make a bigger mess for everyon to sort out.

Typical British Whimps !

September 14 2005, 1:26 PM

Cut fuel tax then I might be able to afford to pay into a pension.

Where does this government think we can get extra money to pay for fuel, council tax, dentist charges, asylum seekers, insurance companies that don't pay up when you claim !!!

It's people who don't question this government have a country what they deserve.

TAXED, TAXED & MORE TAX !!!

wheel.

ok,fine,so you sit and think that the cost of fuel is fine...well aren't YOU the lucky one ... must have a very well paid job eh?

>>The tax on fuel is correct and just, the government are welcome to increase it in my opinion.>>

I disagree with you .... the tax is by no means correct and just, if the tax were put back into the transport structure..ie, road repairs and such there MIGHT be some justification. but as it stands, the taxes seem to be used to fund the war that nobody wanted .... so, how on earth can you justify that statement????

Like the Majority?????????...not in the social circles I move in .... pal.

>>It's a phenomenon known as the silent majority, where a screaming bunch who are the minority shout about something they want changed, for THEIR OWN self interest>>

In the LONG run .....who delivers YOUR food etc to the shops? oh yes.that's right....it all arrives BY ROAD....who pays for the fuel??? certainly not YOU.

>> but in the end the majority do not care and say nothing.. we're just getting on with our lives and trying to work in the real world.>>

sitting on your very well paid backside and complimenting yourself that you don't have to worry about how you are going to pay for your fuel no doubt.

you smug, self opinionated prig.

'Fighting for me??? ........ don't make me laugh

Strange how CND Traitors, Animal Rights Terrorists, and Road Blockading Quislings, Fifth Columnists and Saboteurs never never feel the working end of a nightstick.

The tax on fuel is correct and just, the government are welcome to increase it in my opinion.

So, if you're happy for 350% taxation on fuel for high efficiency engines with catalysed exhausts:

Would you like to confirm that you would support the current 5% VAT levels on dirty domestic fuels.

And the refunded/exempt tax on the fuels used by the "traffic" and "transport" that actually causes the lung diseases and cancers in the headlines recently.

IE Buses and trams and trains.

Being increased to OVER 350%.

I'm waiting!

Strange how when it was the bleedin'-heart, commie-pinko, woolly-"liberal", anti-car environMentalist types who were protesting outside farm entrances, haulage yards, ferry ports, food processing and distribution facilities, petrol stations and refineries, motorway construction sites and on roads in general.

Not to mention laboratories and shops and offices.

Not to mention spraying them with graffiti, vandalising them, petrol bombing them, forebombing them, nailbombing them.

Not to mention assaulting workers and owners and suppliers.

The anti-car types thought it was all just a jolly jape.

But now that the real silent majority is speaking up:

All those formerly "legitimate" activist tactics are now beyond the pale!

No idea what you are talking about, but nothing to do with the previous posts I see. Nice display of prejudice though.
