Please remember that the mods are human and we are all finding our feet here. I suggest to everyone that if you are unhappy about a post being modded you PM Admin, Admin Support or one of the Mods for that area rather than creating another post. That way, issues can be sorted out quicker. TMOF (in Mod mode)

Well, he, she, or they kept cutting and pasting whole pages, thousands of words, of BBC fora threads.

Over and over again.

Into posts on this board.

 

And then repeating the "post" over and over again in the same thread.

 

And then repeating that over and over again.

 

In thread after thread after thread.

 

On this board.

Which is actually mine?

 

And how did I "moderate" that disruption?

I cut and pasted the "content" of those spam posts into his/her/their very own spam post thread.

And replaced it with links to the spam thread for anyone who wanted to follow their posts.

 

That's the only moderation I've had to carry out on some 2,400 threads.

Over five years.

If you don't count things like "editing" posts to make links clickable.

Or once or twice making a change at a poster's request.

 

Note the subtle difference.

By the way, funny thing was, the spammer/s were very proprietorial about "their" BBC board.

First they would attack me when I posted.

Then spam my threads.

Then try to get me banned.

Then he/sh/it would start spamming my board.

Insisting "they" would continue spamming my board until I stopped "spamming" "theirs"!

 

I suppose every cloud does have a silver lining.

At least they banned me from the spawn of the Beeb before the spamming started again!

 

Oh, and he or she or it would print out those BBC pages, bundle them up, and post them to me in the Royal Mail too.

Where, exactly, did I do that?

The nearest I came to that was, following complaints that my "point" was unclear in thread starter posts that had several points stemming from one quote, was to split the threads into seperate ones for each point I wanted to discuss.

b) When I received a request not to name  non posters I complied with the request.

So complying with requests IS against the rules then, "normal" person!

One drawback is that you have to be a member to even view it so I'm not sure Bogush will be too happy with it.

Once you have joined though it is very friendly and Speed Cameras CAN be discussed without fear of moderation.
