Incidentally, this is the reason for the loony "liberal" left's especial hatred for the Daily Mail despite the fact it is almost indistingishable from the Daily Express and even has some pretty loony "liberal" lefty columnists of its own:

"It would have done more harm than good to tell the truth."
Labour chancellor D. Healey over the Callaghan government's conspiracy in 1977 to cover-up bribery by the management of the recently nationalized vehicle manufacturer British Leland and pervert the course of justice.

If I recal correctly the Mail ran a campaign exposing a Labour Minister's involvement in this and was taken to court for libel and screwed for vast amounts of compensation.

Then when Government documents were released adfter 25 years it turned out the Mail was right all along!

The loony "liberal" left (you know, "people" like FW and George Painter have never forgiven the Mail for either!

Amazing how many times you can be wrong in one day, BJ. I have no more contempt for the Mail than the Express. The reason I tend to use the phrase "Daily Mail reader" as a generic description for the it's-political-correctness-gone-mad brigade is that even these sub-intellectuals are usually smart enough to identify the Express as a ridiculous Princess Diana Conspiracy Theory comic book.

And you complain about others using abuse. Hypocrite.

No, I complain about others using infantile swearing and foul language. I'd go back to reading the Express if I were you.

Dunno. Perhaps it's just a useful phrase. Perhaps it's just because it clearly annoys you (and, after all, most things are at root a conspiracy against you personally). I'll ask them at the next Ilk Lodge meeting.
