| I was mostly against the idea of lower fuel tax because I was aware that other taxes in this country were lower than in Europe and I prefered the fuel tax to increased money taxes.
However now that our general level of taxation has overtaken that of the French and Germans, I believe that it is unfair for our fuel tax to be higher than theirs'.
So Arthur is swinging back again to the idea of lower fuel tax.
I am hoping to emigrate to Australia next April and fuel there is about 28p litre. It will certainly be a very useful saving to me. |

Well, one and a half years on and I AM living in Australia.
Fuel prices have risen to 39p litre over here and the opposition parties are talking about jailing oil company executives.
So there's your answer. Migrate to Australia and halve your fuel costs.
In fact if you come to Australia, you will halve most of your other costs as well. |

I just dropped by to see if there was any activity on the let's get little Willie/Duncie/Mikey Elected Board (AKA The Fool Protesters) and there was a recent post from good old Arthur - now seemingly an Aussie! How's the mental healthcare over there Arthur? If it's better than here I may well pop over in my spaceship for a quick round of treatment if Matron doesn't mind. |
