...how the government is subtlety trying to shift the blame for the high cost of fuel away from their levels of fuel tax back to the producers? The fact that BP and Shell (According to them) only make a small amount of money on the sales of fuel and that all their "disgusting" levels of profit come from exploration etc is neither here nor there. The government is laying the foundations for the elections. They are trying to make "Joe Public" think the reason fuel costs so much is because of the greedy petrol companies. So, what do they do? They threaten to reward businesses that do well with an unfair windfall tax. What will these companies do? They'll move their businesses to another country. Hmmm, good logic there Tony..........
Don't be fooled by this. There is only ONE reason for the high cost of fuel in this country - the high level of taxation! Remember this when you are approached by your local Labour Candidate! Pin them against a wall or other suitable immovable object and harangue them until their ears bleed about this.
And to all you high tax, tree hugging, spandex wearing, public transport loving, city dwelling, message board trolls - you are starting to bore the hell out of me. Trundle off and bleat to someone who gives a toss about pollution in the cities, caused by your precious buses, cos you ain't going to find it here.
And Arthur, you sad individual, concentrate on your business and spend more time with your family. Give us all a break for God's sake.
