If the current Tory leader was born south of a line drawn below Birmingham, Coventry and Northampton, I would vote Tory. But I will no more vote for a Northern English leader, than I would for a Welsh or a Bulgarian.

Racism is racism is racism, no matter what their skin colour, culture or what accent they speak in. So before you accuse others AG/JB look to yoursef.
My father was Scottish, my mother is Welsh, my wife is Jewish. William Hague is probably more English than I am, if I am English at all. I was born in Coventry, which I consider to be the North of England. Would you vote for me as Prime Minister? Of course not and who can blame you?
So it is not fair to call me racist, simply because I have observed that all the smart people live in the South of England (I moved down to Warwickshire), and I would not trust a Northerner.
Its location NOT race. You may not agree with my "location" theory of politics, but to call it "racist" is to miss the point of what I am saying.
Or to put it another way, I would say that anyone daft enough to live in Wales or the North of England has shown such error of judgement, that I would not want him as Prime Minister of this country. That is not racist.
If any Englishman were daft enough to live in Iraq or Afghanistan, or Siera Leone, I would also consider him to have made an error of jugement, that would deter me from voting for him, or his political party. Does that sound racist? Of course not.
Tony is a solid Southern sort of guy and William talks with a funny accent and comes from the "dark statanic mills" place. I know who gets my vote, regardless of his policies.

In that case, Mercedes original post was not racist. The fact that they (Illegal Immigrants) are of a different race is irrelevent. The problem we have with them is that SOME are only here to scrounge. Yet the PC brigade see it as an attack on ALL immigrants.
Look at it this way.........
SOME people (British) in this country abuse the benefits system, ie: They claim dole while working etc, If somebody takes a stand against this (as the Gov are, with TV ads), do they get accused of attacking ALL benefit claimants, weather genuine or not? No they don't. Can you see what I'm getting at?
Just because they are of a different race, doesn't mean it's an attack on their race. and the Gov/PC brigade shouldn't be allowed to use that as an excuse not to do any thing about it.

I have traveled all round this country and the people are not equally smart. most of the money is made in the South, because that is where the smart people are.
Californians are generally a lot more smart than Kansas people, its the same the world over. Some people are smarter than others. That is why some get to university and others sweep streets.

Name one top university in the North. Warwick university is the most northern top university and that is just in the South. Nothing after that, until you get to Scotland, which is where the brains kick in again.

A farmer in the North of England had F & M since Christmas and was so stupid that he did not even know it! Now the Northerners have given it to the rest of the country and it will cost The South nine billion to clear up the mess.

I export all over Europe, from Spain up to Latvia. Not being in the Euro costs me a fortune and loses a great deal of foreign earnings for the UK. Multiply this by all the other exporters like me and you are looking at a multibillion loss.
If Hague were to win, exporters like me would be seriously de-railed and unemployment would fly upwards.

Probably explains why when a Japanese company sets up a plant here they poach chinless wonders from a southern art gallery, party planner empire, or burst dot.com and ship in their own workers from Japan.
PS didn't most of UK industry, inventions, the Empire, etc get built by Northerners/Scots etc. The "Southerners" just provided the capital inherited from slave trade, land clearances, etc.
