Questions about Volumes 7 and 8: May contain SPOILERS!

Changing the subject from the web movies. Can someone please answer some questions and speculations I have about Volumes 7 and 8?

1) Is Dhomochevsky like Killy? That is: Is he an agent of an older Safeguard that used to be around before the current one came to be? What does Cibo tell him that convinces him to help her and Killy?

2) What is the little ghost thing that hangs with the Dhom-meister? I am guessing he used to be a person since his cyber presence is that of a young boy (Vol 8 page 141). It obviously has some electromagnetic presence since it can affect the real world.

3) I assume that Davinelulinvega, big Cyborg boss, wants to access the Net for some reason and that he gets the means (the Net Terminal gene) from the information capsule they stole from Cibo. Why does he want to do this and what conversation does he have with the cyber entity as he tries to cross the White River (a cyber scape representation of the barrier to access the Net?)

4) What happens to Cibo at the end of Volume 8. Does Safeguard totally take over her nanotech body and reform it into a super weapon? Was she still fighting the possession as shown by her healing Killy's arm (Vol 8 Page 172)? I am guessing she was a convenient means for Safeguard to wipe out all threats to it's security in that area with one big WHA-BOOM!

5) Is it ever revealed what benefits the cyborgs get from the Net being in chaos and the city growing out of control?

6) Finally, who is the woman shown at the end of Volume 8 with the long barrel Gravitic Emitter? Is it revealed or is all she say a teaser for the next volume?

Can't wait for the next volume. It will be interesting to see how Killy manages to put himself back together from a charred piece of cybergoo...

Thanks,

Ed

Great questions and all stuff that I'm wondering about as well. One of the things I'm curious about is that guy stuck to the wall of the structure that was shown in the color pages at the start of log.50...and also, what did Dhomochevsky's zap do to the big cyborg boss, aside from planting a nice big x on his forehead and screwing up his plans? (You only see him once after that happens, he's in the background and it looks like he's still smoking)
One more thing...who shot Cibbo? The beam comes a considerable time after Killy has already dropped his gun, so it rules him out. It's impossible to tell which direction the beam came from, above or below. And mystery girl is inbetween two of the craters left by the shot, so it's doubtful that she did it either...so perhaps it was *hopeful* Sanakan-chan? Alright, maybe it's a bit of a stretch...but it suggests that there's yet another Gravity Emitter out there...
I wonder if Dhomochevsky is really dead? If he's like Killy, and Killy's like Sanakan...all agents of Netsphere programs, then they're somewhat immortal, aren't they?
The capsule that was taken from Cibbo...didn't she recieve Seu's genetic information from Mensab back in #6? Davinelulinvega's manifestation in the net looks somewhat similar...maybe just coincidence...

And what's the deal with that fish? O_O

still missing vol 7... but I'm assuming that that lump of burnt crispy man is what's left of Killy? I really have no clue how'd he'd get out of that situation unless he's still somewhat alive and his late developing Safegaurd skills finally kick in so he can reform his body. But those things are slow, it seems, and I've no idea how long he can stay 'slightly alive'. OR he could maybe have managed to download another body? yet another 'not likely' because he doesn't seem to know how to do any of that. It's Cibo that had all the skills. >_<

Who shot Cibo-- It looks sorta like Puseru (or however that name is spelled) shot her. Killy's first shot at her didn't seem to do much. It was after the damaging shot from below that Killy shot Puseru and Cibo went and er.. blew up/not quite self destructed. The beam later almost looked like one of those teleportation things. Or I'm assuming just Cibo going through the final stages of nuclear leakage. O_O Surprising because Killy shot her and and she just healed right up. Puseru shoots her and she blows up. I guess Puseru had a much better gun.

Didn't Sanakan get destroyed awhile back? I'm not sure if they can give you a new body if your old one is so destroyed that the person can no longer hold onto it. From what I can tell from Cibo's constant bodyswapping, the original body still has to be alive before she could jump ship into another one.

After Cibbo wrecked the place with her halo, a beam, which appears to be from a gravitational beam emitter, comes from somewhere and hits her. Later on, we see Cibbo staggering about, looking rather unhealthy...
I believe the halo beam was intentional, and just something she did after being attacked a few too many times. It doesn't appear to damage her at all, so I'd assume that the injuries she took came from the mysterious beam...

As for Sanakin-chan, she had her head shot full of bolts, later was decapitated by Killy's gun, and then was partially disintegrated as well. The last one she didn't reappear after, but of course, it was the end of the story arc, and as she failed to stop Toha Heavy Industries from teleporting and being destroyed, she had little reason to reappear again...which leaves the possibility that she is still alive. But why is Safeguard appearing again NOW of all times?

Finally read book 8. Spoilers and speculations galore.

The beam probably was from the mystery girl. When she's first shown, she's already on Cibo's trail, or rather that level 9 Safeguard that took over her body.

Can't tell how much of Cibo's left in there, since it looked like even her cyber pressence was fading (I'm pretty sure she was that second Davinel that was talking to that one dude in the river. As in the one that showed up when the original died from the X on his forehead. Did some kind of double-access through him, saying she couldn't help herself from trying to see the Net Sphere. Unfortunately, right as Davinel was dying, he still managed to steal the highest ranking safeguard's data and stuck it in her body). The hooded guy tells her he's sorry, since her original self doesn't exist any more as she fades.

Don't think Dhomo's coming back without another big twist... From the first time you see them, Ico's telling Dhomo that he won't be able to recover if he takes another critical hit (the system that spawns the Safeguards and the like in the area have all been taken over by Davinel. Like the one Killy shoots to stop the monsters from spawning). Even his left eye doesn't heal over time.

Dhomo's also got a limited electric charge to function with. Looks like he used up everything he had to do that X-thing, so Ico used himself to charge him back up to stop the level 9 SG. The system wasn't exactly too generous with those two from the start, sending them out there alone to take on the mess of Silicons, so who knows if they'll bring them back.

I think Killy's registration from the safeguards also got removed (why Sanakan tries to kill him, rather than bring him back). So he only has his self regenaration to rely on, rather than insta-respawning treatment.

Yow! Tell us more Bob!!! Like, why did Dhomo and Ico try to stop the Safeguard anyways...if they are Safeguard themselves? Was it because of their precious friendship with Killy and Cibbo? sparkly eyes Did the powers of LOVE and PEACE prevail over even the most mortal of enemies?!

Only read up to book 7, so I could be wrong about, well, everything.

1. Dhomo originally keeps Cibo confined and doesn't tell her where he sent Killy to keep her safe (the Silicon Lifeforms in the area'd go after any 'human' for their genes). He also practically joins her on his own when he catches up to her. At gun point, anyway.

"You said your friend's name was Killy. If you still plan on going to him, I'll take you through a safter route. I'll even give you back that gun and capsule. But you'd better never step foot in this structure again. It'd be touble for me if the Silicon Creatures got a hold of human."

Maybe it's LOVE~ romantic music starts playing

2. That's Casper, the friendly ghost. Or rather, a safeguard named Ico. Wonder what happened to his original body from that flashback. He was there to explain the situation to Dhomo when he got 'activated', and acts like some kind of informant the rest of the time.

3. All those sillicon creature guys want access to the 'net sphere, as far as I can tell. They're basically a kind of cult that digs chaos and stole technology from the safeguards (or whatever created them) to try and accomplish it. No coincidence that some of them look and materialize in a similar fashion.

my take

well i know nothing about japanese, but this is what i got out of it... (possible spoilers for those that dont want to be spoiled)

in number 6, Mensabu gives Cibo the capsule that has Sue's genetic code in it. Then Davinelulinvega steals it and (this is where i am speculating) uses it to enter the NetSphere as a 'fake' Sue genetic code to (for some reason) get into contact with the Governors (this is what i am thinking at least). also on log46 pg.78, the Governor knows that it is Davineluluvega (or at least refers to him by his name). ???????

as for the Cibo-angel, there are a few interesting issues...at the end of log.48 something seems to be ?downloading into Cibo or something is going on, which happens at the same time that Dhomochevsky blasts Davinelulinvega, so there is possibly some connection here, as stated previously by another poster.
however, in log.49, a series of events pose lots of questions...
1) Dhomochevsy attempts to destroy the larva
2) Cibo-angel kills Dhomochevsky
3) this leads Killy to see her as hostile and as she powers up for another ~attack he blasts her...
4) however, this attack actually heals Killy's damaged arm
5) P-cell blasts Cibo-angel and then Killy kills P-cell (which elmininated the Davinelulinvega connection, because why would P-cell attack Cibo-angel is she had some sort of connection to Davinelulinvega)
6) !IMPORTANT! Cibo-angel has Safeguard markings on her forehead (which kind of explains why P-cell attacks her because Silicon Beings are also against the Safeguard, and maybe this is also why Cibo-angel heals Killy)
7) Cibo-angel goes apoclyptic and Killy attemps to finish her off again...
8) as for the 'beam of light' at the end of log.50? who knows... it could be something attacking Cibo-angel or a by-product of her destruction. it seems clear (at least i think) though that it is the blast that makes the hole at the very end (that the girl is investigating).

and finally, the girl that investigated the hole seems very close to the main character in Noise. yes/no??

Dude, I never thought about that

June 19 2002, 12:43 AM

Guess anybody trying to access the 'net sphere with Seu's genetic coding looks like Seu... which'd explain why Davinel looks like that and how Cibo would, too. Just never recognized Seu, since so many people in the Blame world look alike. Which can be countered by how there aren't a whole lot of people in there to begin with, but eh.

The guy in the river still recognized Davinel, and had a completely different attitude towards Cibo, so it isn't really a masquerade. What it does is keep those mean-looking grim reaper safeguards away. You know, like that one guy with the big honking scissors, or the one that helped cuase the explosion Cibo's lab, before she decided she liked the bleached look better.

The one part I have to wonder about, though, is why the Cibo angel'd attack Dhomo, but heal Killy. They were both shooting at her with the GBE pistol, and both are Safeguards (Killy being unregistered, making it stranger).

Then again, Ico wakes up Dhomochevsky because he recognizes the level 9 safeguard that took over Cibo, saying he has to kill it. When it starts moving, it's supposed to be unstoppable. The system must have finally gone and sent in another safeguard into that sector to keep it from becoming out of hand...

my take on the thing (yeah, sure, just throw another bunch of speculations in and confuse everybody more, why don't you):

1. Dhomo attacks the hijacked level 9 SG/possessed Cibo, since Davinel stole it and had set it to do no good (whether it's to take revenge on the guys who killed them, or spread more chaos just the way he likes it, his last wishes can't be pretty).

2. Cibo counters. There isn't supposed to be any of Cibo left in there, so like the cold machine the level 9's supposed to be, she (it) kills him. Much like the safeguards Sanakan made out of the villagers in book 3, it's supposed to just have the host's face but none of the personality, I suppose.

3. Killy peels himself off the floor, takes the gun, and tries to stop her. KillyxCibo coupling fans rejoice, as Cibo shows an unexpected burst of her normal self, healing her old pal. She's got a really subtle, sad look in her eyes here.

4. Pcell takes a pot shot at Cibo. Either because she just came to and didn't realize the L9 was on her side (kinda pushing it, since who knows how much Davinel messed with it before getting X-ed off). Or else, she was it help Killy, and decided too much of Cibo's old self was in there.

5. Cibo gets the closest thing to a mean look on her face, heals herself, and goes hostile. The halo attack looks plenty intentional because of this, but that's probably because the L9 side took control. Back in book 5, Cibo lost control of Sanakan's body when she took a shot through the head. What caused this one must have been something similar.

Getting shot through the chest didn't seem to make her falter much, so it probably wasn't the loss of an arm, either... but in that closeup where she looks (somewhat) angry, a piece of her face is cracked, along the side Pcell's attack passed by, taking off her arm. That remote control of death she uses seems to distupt everything in the general area she waves it in, so a fair share of the force must have hit Cibo's head, letting the L9 take over and launch that attack.

6. The mystery beam fries Cibo, to match everything else on that structure. When she's seen limping away again, her face looks more like a face, rather than a mask. Also has visible ears, and her hair goes all the way to the back of her head. Not to mention she looks like she's in actual pain.

Who knows what deus ex machina caused it, but I'd say more of the original Cibo's resurfacd. She did modify Sanakan's little girl body to resemble her own over time (very little, considering it took her 10 years to get it that far), so it could be something similar. If she manages to get repaired, wonder if she'll be back to her old body, or keep bits and pieces of the L9...

7. The latest Safeguard agent walks up to the crater, holds up that star trek-ish gadget dingy, and says "I've found the trail of the Level 9. Continuing pursuit."

Whew... this sure turned out long.
